Mediocre, far too much CG/lens flare/motion blur which makes the fights unwatchable. and the rest is just boilerplate standard superman stuff you see in the cartoons/tv series/previous films.

Really this years big CBM's have been disappointing, here's hoping Wolverine, RIPD, RED 2 and Thor 2 are better.

So 3 3D movies and a possible 2D movie LOL.

Superman 2>Superman>>>>>>>>>>Man of Steel

I really don't get how people like any of the other superman movies other  than Man of Steel.

Because the other 2 Superman movies are better then Man of Steel. Three biggest problem I have with the movie:

SPOILERS ALERT!!!

1. Clark Kent will never stand there and watch is father die. NEVER!

2. Johnathen Kent will never tell Clark Kent to let inocent people die to protect his own idenity.

3. BIGGEST ONE! Superman doesn't KILL. Plain and simple.

Every character doesn't have to be like what was said in the comics. Infact in Man of Steel this superman was real. He was not the 2D character he was in the older lousy Superman movies which had no depth in terms of character (or anything).

Spoliers....

1. He trusted his father never knew that he would let himself die.

2. ...I don't even know how to answer to that lousy response.

3. In superman II the Man of Steel killed Zod while smiling when he clearly didn't have too. And in some of the comics HE HAS KILLED before only when it was nessesary. And that one scene spoke volumes about his characters...despite having superpowers he still struggles in situations like these where he is forced to kill.

And the IMDB and metacritic user score clearly indiactes that MOS was better than any superman movie.

I have to clap for you. Thank you for bring up Superman II.

They weren't dead. If you look closely on "The Richard Donner Cut" in the deleted scenes section, you can see that Zod, Ursa and Non are still alive and are being placed within the back of the truck of the Arctic Patrol, where Lex is then placed. All four were locked up as a result. In the five films, Superman never once kills any of the villains. Lex, Otis, Lenny, Ross, Vera and Lorelei are locked up. Or in Lex and Kitty's case, stranded on a deserted island. Zod, Ursa and Non are imprisoned.

I've never seen The Richard Donner Cut's so I'l have to take your word for it.

It's better than the original version, and a shame he didn't get to do both films the way he really wanted to.

That being said, the official version we got had Zod and crew killed. No way around this one.

No they were not. It was left to the audience to figure if they were alive or dead. They are Kyrptonians, they just don't die falling in the artic. Did we see the bodies of the dead Kryptonians? Superman smile at Zod because he knew they would be stuck in the ice like they were in the Phantom Zone.

At that point, they didn't have their Kryptonian powers anymore. Noticed how Lois managed to punch Ursa down so easily?

But, if you really want to play it like that, Superman killed Zod in 1987. He premedited it, actually. And yeah, it was the canon Superman (not an elseworld's) who did that.

Thanks.

If a man were to claim Man of Steel was the best Superman movie ever, he would be an honest man however if he claimed it was a good movie he would be a liar.

Yeah. God forbid people have different opinions, and you hold the absolute truth.

Honestly fuck this shit...he killed Zod in a few comics which proved that what he did was still true to the comics. And if you have such a big problem with why a superhero was forced to kill zod in order to save a family and later crying at what he did not because it was wrong, but becuase he killed and did something that was against his values...you clearly have some issues with sensitivity. And you can enjoy ur crappy old superman movies that was cheesy in terms of action, overly simple character's (which is odd considering superhero movies have complex characters which makes sense as  considering superheroes are very complex characters), slow and boring stories and worst of all terrible acting. But hey..it stay's true to superman's comics right?

Does anyone want to debate if Superman would be Jewish if he were an earthling?

I say he would be Jewish because in the older iterations of his animated physical appearance, well his face, like his eyes, well he clearly has the eyes of "european-Jews" of that era, plus the curl, plus the 2 creators of Superman where Jewish, so they clearly animated him around their own people's physical appearance which explains quite a lot of his look.

Do you think he would be caucasian or Jewish or Russian or what?

EDIT:

Plus it seemed they were originally making him as son of god sent down from heaven, but later on ended up being an alien instead.

Also Dragonball seem to maybe have Goku to be the son of the "Monkey King" who was probably just chillin in heaven or something, until his son fell from the stars onto earth.....but thats my theory LOL.
