Forums - Website Topics - Is there any reason to be on this site if I don't own a current generation and won't own next gen console?

We need members like you, I hate the direction modern gaming is taking and I'd say that less than 5% of games shown and released today appeal to me but I still like the community.
All reasonable members with a little bit of history and experience to draw upon are valuable additions to the forums, I for one would be sad to see you go!

Around the Network

Rather than do three separate replies to different posts, I am going to do one here:
1. What is inverse psychology? Is it connected to reverse psychology? For myself, I don't respond and act based upon what other people want. I do act out of properness overall though, but not trying to please anyone. So reverse or inverse psychology doesn't work. And my question about why be here goes out in general to this site, period, for people who feel they are jumping out of this coming generation (for a number of reasons), and ask to why bother being here, if it is just going to be concern about current generation stuff.
2. In regards to making an overall retro game thread, that subject is SO broad, that it really doesn't work well. People need specific content to discuss here, not just to jump in somewhere and post. And I HAD done one of these. I had some people check in, and it got lost. An issue is, where exactly do you post retro threads? In one sense it ends up being per console maker, and you stick PC gaming stuff in the Microsoft forum, which is mainly for XBox. Does it make ANY sense at all to have PC gaming posted in there? Reality is that there isn't a place for PC gamers to hang out on here. I would also add here, I find the way the Internet organizes its forums to be not productive to game interest, and leads to platform tribal partisanship and fanboyism. You hang out on places, NOT because you like certain genres, but because of a platform. End result is you rah-rah stuff you don't even care to buy personally, but your platform tribe is threatened.
3. And it isn't even really about the site at this point. If it was just about the site and the people, I could go through. I just have gotten tired of the industry, and my need to feed the beast, while witnessing my investment become expired. And, if I am not going to have reason to be about here, why bother being here? I don't hang out on a fishing website, because I don't fish. And a real kicker is, if I am not buying a console, why should I bother following sales numbers?

The short of it, I don't see this as a place for retro gamers at all on here, as it the case for almost all of the Internet. I end up having to go Atari Age website. I can also park myself in my CADERS group and share my retro stuff there I find on YouTube and other announcements. And anyone else feel bummed out about retro and indie lack of interest about, feel free to join CADERS group on Facebook.

I will be looking to do a goodbye XBox (and Wii) post somewhere on here also.
