Cliff Blezinski makes the claim that you can;t have big budget games along side used game sales and rentals. He also tells people to blame their local internet providers for the lack of high speed internet.
I don;t know about other people but this kind of rant from someone well established within the industry just makes me angry.
Everytime i here a discussion about the second hand games sales and rentals it usually ends in people agreeing that it is a net benefit to the industry overall. I know from experience that all my trade in's are towards new games, after buying used games I liked some of them so much i bought the sequals new and i have bought games after renting them before.
Also, does the data for games sales historically support the claim that used games and retals have caused a decline in sales?
I think he has little to no idea about how rentals and second hand sales actually impact the industry.
If anything intrusive DRM will cause the sales of a game to decline more than anything else.
