Forums - Sony - Knack And Its Potential Issue I'm Seeing!

It looks like a tech demo to show off particles.

In reality, the character Knack would be a good character. He is in the wrong setting and he has boring gameplay.

What he needed was to be created by a mad scientist with a big N on his forhead and in a world with wumpa fruit and boxes and good level design.

Platformer has to have something going for it gameplay wise whether it be the actual platforming/movement, the Combat, Level design, Puzzles. Knack has nothing.

Skylanders actually looks better. (gameplay starts at 3:00)

So you are telling me crash bandicoot and sly cooper aren't platformers? because Knack resembles those games. And anyways th flaws of this game aare probably due to this game still being in developement and i'm pretty sure the final version will be much better.

The game looks nothing like Sly Cooper and I recently played Crash on Vita, used to love it as a child but the game is passable by 2013 standards. The fact that Knack looks near identical is not actually compliment unless using nostalgia as a gauge for quality.

I wouldn't count its sales out straight away, the box art looks really nice. Reviewers are normally too kind to launch titles. Also sony has adopted more diverse pricing strategies as of late, I do not think they will sell it for full price ($39.99)

I like how you call the game lame in your following post. You need a lot of faith to believe that a launch game like Knack can sell a million units.

Yeah, I wasn't actually thinking about the numbers you posted. 1m is pushing it, I just mean that the game may still do well by launch standards (500k+) because of the above reasons.

Well the movement looks really bad, but the game wont release until november which means they have more then 5 months to issues this.

I will get it at launch. I mean Mark Cerny has a stellar track record with games like this

I honestly lost all interest in this title after watching the gameplay.

It looked like it could've been a charming little 3D action-platformer, but the gameplay looks so shallow and clunky here.

(Also, why are his parts unaffected when he goes through the lasers and transforms back? If the parts could automatically move between the lasers in the 1st place why did he need to turn into a crystal?)

I think that's just 1 of those minor things that you can find in all games. I've ran into things like that a lot and i would just laugh about it. It even happens in movies. You know how when the helpless girl is running through the woods and the bad guy is "walking" after her but is still somehow right behind her. Like always, the girl trips and hurts her leg, then she turns around on her back and starts like dragging herself or crawling backwards while crying as the killer stands over her. A struggle breaks out as he tries to grab her, she kicks him in the balls and falls, then she gets up and runs away as if her leg was never hurt in the 1st place

Its like C'mon now! Lol

I think the game look like poo they should be using a less realistic style for the environment also the game seams empty there should be more stuff on screen bad guys or element of the environment moving not just static buildings and crates

yeah, i have to agree.  there are  moments where you can truely see the "next gen" stuff like when he did the power blast.   ..but i think that was a waste of the resources.   yeah, great, the main character is made of a lot of objects and destructable objects descruct with flair.   ..but who the fuck cares when there is a mostly barren environment.

Edit: this is to @Rol. Idk why his quote was placed at the bottom of my reply

I hope to god that doesn't happen!

I just want Knack to be a quality game that i can eventually look back upon in a good way. Aint nobody got time for no damn flops lol

Everything about Knack looks pretty good except for when you stumble upon the gameplay. That should've been the 1st thing that they aimed to perfect.

1st thing they need to do is make everything move a bit more naturally. 2ndly i feel like Knack doesn't cover enough ground quick enough. In the 1st gameplay video in the town, it seems like he's moving too slow but i only noticed that in the 1st gameplay video.

and i guess you're right about Sonic Unleashed

Sonic also moved around without that fidgety feeling in Unleashed. Another thing that needs to be tweeked is Knacks range when he attacks. In Unleashed, Sonic has a decent range when he attacks but in Knack i almost feel like if i'm standing directly in front of an object or enemy and attack, there is a slight chance that i would miss. They need to widen his range a slight bit when he attacks

I thought you were going to talk about how this game looks like Sonic Unleashed's night stages. A few transformation abilities aren't going to save this game.

I predict a Metascore of 66 and the creation of a MAJOR flop thread.

Only game that caught my interest when they revealed PS4. I was shocked seeing this demo.

The impression I get from Knack is that the game was built with the objective of showing off the PS4's power first and foremost. Like if they came up with the concept of Knack being built from hundreds of small pieces all individually rendered first and then grafted the gameplay/story on top.

Signature goes here!

This is a freaking 3d platformer wtf did u guys expect God Of freaking War fighting mechanics?!?!?!?!? This is a 3d platformer being made by Mark Cerny and Japan Studio. With Cerny being part of my all time fav. games, there is NO doubt in my mind that this game will impress me.

Well Marks involvement definitely will have benifetted this game but this gameplay needs to be tweeked.

That clunky-stiffish-fidgityness to Knack needs to be ironed out
