Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto: Nintendo's game ownership policy should operate "like a toy company"

He is 100% correct.

If you dont like the used game market, create games that people wont want to trade in.

I agree.  Seems like some of these studios assume not having used games will make their games suck less.

With full DRM, we're going to have to rely a lot more on reviews, demos, etc.  Hopefully those things won't "spoil" game endings, etc.  With the way it is now, it is a lot easier to jump in (take a risk), knowing that if a game sucks, you can offload it.  Effectively cutting your losses.

Why shouldn't I be able to sell a game (for top dollar) that I only spent 2 hours playing and hated.

this man is genius. well said Miyamoto

You simply can't argue against that. Miyamoto is the man!

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

I really like how essentially, their way of combating the retailer used market is the creation of another one.

The "family" used market. Games passed along through time. And who knows? Maybe the kids who played the games of 10-20 years past becomes a fan of the gameplay and buys the sequels when older.

I passed Zelda down to my younger sister. She grew up watching me play Wind Waker, now she's planning on buying WWHD to try it for herself. It's a beautiful thing.

Even if you grow out of it, there's always someone else that will appreciate it for what it is.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

You heard it straight the man who has worked with a company that has always been about making quality games. Quality games that rarely end up in the used market; unlike some games.

Thank you Mister Miyamoto for being on our side!

Cue the outraged screams of one million hardcore gamers who like to pretend that their hobby isn't playing with toys for hours and hours.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing

I am too hardcore to be playing with toys.
