Sony will give you rewards for trophies, and this is compared to xbone's anti-consumer monetization of every pixel how?

Welcome to the thread. We only figured that out halfway through.
As for monetizing advice and tips, it's in the OP. Judge for yourself.

You didn't need half a thread to figure out what the OP was saying.
It's pretty clear that they're talking about incentivizing, not monetizing.
Incentivizing is saying "if you buy more games or get more trophies, or invite friends to play demos, or etc etc, we'll give you stuff"
Monetizing is "if you pay us money, we'll give you stuff"
It's pretty clear.

If it was then why did half of us have to edit our posts/ideas half-way through?
No, it wasn't obvious. If giving advice gives points, kind of like vgchartz points, then yes you are right it has nothing to do with microsoft.
But then, why the auction house? No, I'm not entirely convinced you're correct.

trademark, which PSLS has uncovered, says:
Arranging and conducting auctions in the field of computer games, virtual game assets and tropies; Arranging and conducting incentive reward programs to promote the sale of computer games, virtual game assets and tropies; Auction services; Providing consumer information in the field of computer games and video games.
These are four different things.
Auction system
incentive program
Auction services
Providing consumer information
Trademarks are for a service, so this is for a service that:
1. Conducts auctions for games, assets, and trophies
2. Conducts incentive reward programs to promote games, assets, and trophies
3. Provides auction SERVICES (this is what ebay does)
4. Provides consumer information for games
Extremely clear when you just read it. You get points, you trade points for other things. Think of it like Gamestop's power reward system, mixed with EvE online's monetary auction rewards (turn in game money into real money). I just don't know what the consumer information is, unless it's just synopses of the games on the marketplace.
500 points to get Uncharted 4 for free
Every dollar spent gives you a point.
Every bronze trophy gives a point, every silver 2 points, every gold 5 points
Trade goods over the system to others using a point system. Don't want that horse armor any more? Trade it for points. Don't care for those trophies, sell em off.

The way I had understood it is that Sony would allow players to buy trophies and other virtual assets. We don't know if my reading of it is incorrect really, so until then you can't say my MS point is invalid as it's unclear at best.

I definitely agree that there is the possibility of that. While your point is taken, I don't feel your reaction of painting playstation fans as hypocrites is justified.

I'm not painting playstation fans as hypocrites, there are always sensitive people. I just wanted to say that that's what I read the article as at first and it threw me off how people were praising it early in the thread when in the past month people have been ranting like madmen at Microsoft.

Same here. It would be nice to accumulate points for loyalty or trophies that can be traded in for things on PSN or something like that. Can you imagine if you could get stuff for earning trophies? Trophy addicts would be even more motivated!
Love your avatar BTW.

I hope the buying trophies part isn't true. Defeats the purpose. I've earned my trophies.
