Forums - Sony - Introducing The PlayRoom, only for PlayStation 4

The Eye should have been bundled from the get-go. If all PS4s shipped with the Eye, it would have made it an integrated part of the system and all devs had access to it to add to their games. Now the ecosystem is fragmented and devs might not even give it a second thought because they would need to program for the lowest common denominator. I wouldn't have minded paying $450 for the whole thing. It's still cheaper than the Xbox One.

Nevertheless, looks cool. I'm sure lots of kids would enjoy. Reminds me of Kinect Fun Labs

Eh, I'm not sold on it but it looks neat.

The camera won't get many games since it isn't bundled right?

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

If Sony was able to actually project those onto the floor then that would be cool. It looks incredibly gimmicky and nothing I would ever use. You'd have to explain to ever person that walked in on you, waving your hand around at nothing as if you were on acid, that your just simply slapping the banana's out of the monkey on the screen. Stupid.

The camera might come bundled later on, like in 2-3 years, when the console will be cheaper to manufacture.

In between most devs won't use it, still, even if most devs used it, it would be just a gadget on 90% titles.

Like sixaxis. It was just a pain in the ass on most games.

Edit : BTW Shahid Ahmad confirmed a month ago that contract with devs included using one exclusive feature of the console

It's basically augmented reality right? The camera films the environment which becomes part of the physics and PS4 generated objects interact with it... not a new concept, but still very cool. I always thought AR has a lot of potential in gaming.
