Forums - Sony - PS4: The Playroom - amazing DS4 & PS4Eye tech demo

Nice little tech demo, but it just makes me glad the Camera isn't forced down the consumer's throat.

Amen to that!

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

So very much feel the next LBP will be based on this eye and DS4.

The thing I'm actually most excited about the potential for the ps4's light bar to be used as a 3rd analoge stick for point controls. The problem with the Wii mote and its IR aiming was that it wasn't suitable for constant use, but at time is far more accurate than a analouge stick. If the PS4 can use that function as supplementary control option,  I think we could have some really cool and fun game experiences. They need to invest in dedicated teams to prove its potential, talented teams like Media Molecule. Hopefully at launch the eye is bundled with a game, probably a game they'll announce at Gamescon in august.

Also considering they had this install, I am really surprised that Sony released the wonderbook as its own peripheral. The DS4+eye can function exactly the same.

Very neat, nothing amazing, but I'm sure that Media Molecule will make great use of it. I'm still not sure whether dividing the userbase by not bundling PS Eye with every console is a good idea. I'm afraid it will be a wasted peripheral, just like the Move.

I'll probably buy the Eye when they'll show more features, or good games dedicated.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Nice demo but thanks god the PS eye is optional.

The PS move didn't have singel quality game made exclusively for it and all the games compatible without it functioned better with analouge sticks.

And I'm afraid we may not receive a single, big quality game made exclusively for the PS Eye/ + Move combo. If Media Molecule won't make a game for it, then I actually don't see any other studio making that kind of software, save for maybe few smaller gems, that certainly won't push the hardware part of the peripheral.

I personally really enjoyed Socom 4: US Navy Seals and Killzone 3 with the Move and Sharpshooter, and Heavy Rain was by far superior with Move support. Still that's very little. I look forward to Until Dawn, but we haven't heard about the game for some time now.

I didn't even think that PS Eye would be a addition to the core gamer experience, I'm not sure if it's even possible. The fact the Ryse - the supposed MS core Kinect hit, has no longer Kinect required, and the new Kinect, so a really advanced tech, shows that it's just not worth the hassle. I thought it would be a good way of claiming the casual/kid market a bit a getting every Kinect/KinectONE game that is released, and we know that they can move a lot of copies. When they're dividing the userbase, I'm not sure that 3rd parties will care about the PS Eye.

Sony just need to invest in smarter teams to work with it. The key point was that the move had exclusives but they were all pretty bad. You don't require a huge budget, just some creative talent and so I think maybe it will best for sony to scoute for indie talent as opposed to getting random, subpar devs (nihilistic games) to tackle the exclusives.
