Initially it seemed a bit slow, but not counting QTE's, it does seem to have a slight Demon's Souls to it (which I love, and my plat in that game is proof of it). The reason I see QTE's being successful in God of War series is because the combat was fairly fast paced and they offered a change of pace which would help slow things down slightly to plan your next course of action. The problem Ryse may run into is IF the gameplay is already slow, the QTE's may cause it to be a snorefest. Only slow games that can get away with doing QTE's successfully are QTE centric games with slower pacing and heavy story telling (Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy). With all that being said Ryse has the potential to do something special, however I don't have too much faith in Crytek to pull it off, but they can prove me wrong. If this was in the hands of Epic, or even Lionhead, then I would have more faith. I hope Crytek pulls it off and it doesn't end up going the way of Nintey Nine Nights (awesome trailer, meh gameplay).
Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)
I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/ hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.
