Forums - Nintendo - (Have some crow!) Nintendo showed incredible, hardcore, mature games and yet you complain about 3D Mario?

The point is that they showed absolutely nothing surprising or new, and that's why i'm not pleased with the showing. I could have not watched anything this entire E3 from Nintendo and all i would have missed would be the DKC game, which was predictable anyway. Getting a new trailer for X was cool, but it showed me little new about the game. I was going crazy with joy when they first announced x, but this trailer just seemed like a 2nd take really. As a fan i shouldn't just have to accept everything Nintendo does.

Very few of the games at the Direct had any prior gameplay footage, so I don't see the problem.

The new X trailer showed more about the story and world of the game, while the first was very gameplay-focused.

Wasnt about being hardcore or not.

The fact is people are disappointed they were expecting a full proper galaxy like 3D mario game and not a 3D land like game.

Either ways, I'll be happy to get it - I am sure I'll enjoy it more than New Super Mario Bros which is stale to me ;x.

I think there's a stong change of the game being only similar to 3D Land in style, not substance. By that, I mean bigger, longer, bolder levels.

There was quality there, for sure. But Nintendo needed some bombs here. Mario 3D, Retro's game, the Wii-series, 3rd party titles... these things needed to grab people's attention. MarioKart was everything it needed to be. X looks amazing, but it's a niche title. Kart and Smash delivered but the ball was dropped in several areas. Mario 3D needed to lead the way and it didn't. DK will suffer from the same symptoms as NSMB. These things are big mistakes, and the lack of the worlds biggest series, COD, will make the Wii U an also-ran. A fun system, sure, but it's coming up short.

If you are a Gamecube Fan, than this conference was great. If you are a Wii fan, this conference was garbage.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Bayonetta 2 and X Project were really nice. Maybe I will end up buying a WiiU just like I bought a Gamecube in the PS2 era. It was only for 5-6 games but it was fun.

I'm quite pleased with Nintendo's E3 Direct. I'll be honest and say that at first I wanted something more ambitious from Retro but then I remembered DKCR is one of my favorite games ever and Tropic Freeze looks damn awesome!

Yes there was very few surprises but what was shown was really good: Mario Kart 8, X, Smash Bros, Super Mario 3D World, Bayonneta 2, The Wonderful 101

Signature goes here!

3d Mario was one of the big games that was suppose to save the WiiU. The disappointment is.... overwhelming.

It looked so...so....so... basic...like a downgraded Mario Galaxy.

I think multiplayer killed it. I think they had to simplify the graphics severely to prevent screen clutter for 4 players and they could only have the 2 camera angles shown because you would lose track of the other players far too easily with other angles.

I was a GC/PS2 owner as well. To me, nothing was better than bounding between Metroid Prime and Jak 2.

Multiplayer is probably the reason why it'll sell well, so at least I can say that Nintendo's priorities are in order. Serve the gameplay first and don't worry so much about making an artistic statement.

I hope so, its still too early - need moar info.

Anyways I was satisified with Nintendo's E3 direct for what I was expecting which was first party titles, third party titles however made me think to myself that I'm glad I went multiplatform lol.

Yeah I'm also going multiplat. I don't think I'll be able to upgrade my PC for quite a while and I can still get Thief on the PS4. :)
