Forums - Gaming - Nintendo are in the perfect position to actually win E3

Win E3? Whoever "wins" E3 is highly subjective mainly due to fanboyism.

E3 is about creating hype. It's about grabbing the attention of the headline writers. Who does this best "wins" E3. It doesn't matter how this is done. It can be games, peripherals or simply announcing facts about a new console.

Pretty much every journalists have pushed the Wii U to the background. Games were never really going to be the major factor this time around at E3. It was always going to be about pricing, launch dates and DRM regarding the new consoles. That's what forums around the world are buzzing with today. Games then follow.

No matter what Nintendo do today tomorrow's headlines and thereafter will still be dominated by those factors and wii U will be once again pushed to the background because this E3 is far more than about just games and price cuts.

A badly selling console written off by most is probably ripe for further attacks of negativity no matter what nintendo does.

Let the next few hours tell the story.

Well, that'd be kind of fair after your posts in the Playstation thread, wouldn't it?  It was obvious that you didn't want to like anything from the start.  I'm sure there will be trolls in the Nintendo thread, which is a shame, but I don't think you should be the one complaining about it.

We're assuming things now?

OT: I doubt it. Nintendo has been weak on the E3 Front for the past few years now. They were good, but Sony's Conference had that surprise factor. Nintendo has many of their cards layed on the table (great cards, no doubt!) and I doubt we'll be surprised. Nintendo has things to prove this E3. They aren't just in a "perfect position."

- Not saying the Direct won't be good. Because, boy oh boy, it should!

An assumption based on experience.

And you are such a Nintendo hater.  You've gotta have faith, faith, faith.

No. You can't top a hardware reveal + trolling the competition. Sony won E3 and there's literally nothing Nintendo can do to "win".

You are so predictable.

....sorry if I offended you.....

You didn't 'offend" me.

Made me roll my eyes though.

They're in a good position to not suck. That's all I'm willing to commit to at this point.

Actually, i've started to agree with superchunk. Mobile gaming is shifting heavy to phone/tablets and soon enough will overshadow dedicated handheld gaming. The fact is Vita didn't work out very well and 3DS is _not_ picking up the slack, as good as it is selling, it's not near enough. Mobile gaming will be phone gaming by a landslide.

mobile already sliced a really good chunk from the handheld market, i didnt admit that at first but its just true. but that doesnt mean there isnt a market for handhelds though, it wont be as big as last gen (230 million!!) no where near that. but there is still a healthy market to cater to

Unfortunately not healthy enough. What used to be considered handheld exclusive is leaking into the mobile phone space and I hate that. My gripes about the 3DS hardware aside, mobile/tablet gaming is worse to me. I've pretty much had to give up on playing portable games.

Yes, let's see the latest versions of their 20 years old franchises and consider them winners. I still can't believe Nintendo lost me as their biggest fan. With zero 3rd party support I hope they intend to made a new Mario/Kart/Zelda every 3 months.

Actually, in terms of Nintendo, people care more about software than spces (CLEARLY). For Sony and Microsoft, specs are everything  then games but for Nintendo to have an amazing E3, they would need games (for more than one reason). People don't care about how powerful the Wii U can get or Netflix on Wii U/Other pointless extras on any Nintendo console...ever unless they are a Sony/Microsoft fanboy and want to bash Nintendo using the easiest advantage, features and specs. When it comes to game exclusives, Nintendo can put up a match. Their 1st party IPs are hard to top usually and will sell Wii U if Nintendo does a good job today. "Winning" E3 isn't so much about beating out competition as it is, getting the hype for your products and getting people to want them throughout the year. Whoever does the best job of that "wins" E3.

So, again, Nintendo can "win" E3 for themselves through good games for Wii U since 3DS is already doing amazing.

I really do wonder if KH3 will come to WiiU, solely based on the fact that some games came to Nintendo platforms and Disney meddling. (Disney sells well on Nintendo)

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

i believe sony didn't say the indie games will be console exclusive for ps4, only "first on console for ps4". but i may be wrong.

i'm really excited to see what nintendo will show us.

For me they will alway show the same thing mario and zelda and 3rd party game support will be poor

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m
