What if Kaz Hirai steps up and just says "399 Dollars"?

$499 is too much. $399 is the sweet spot.

Shades of 1994. "$299."

Sorry OT, but is VGC lagging a lot right now or is it just my internet?

I'm thinking VGC, because I'm having problems too.

I'm having problems too. I guess there're too many people on the site right now.

The UK pricing is really bad, really.

£429 is essentially $666.

Then you add on the Live sub.

Powered by the power of Satan :P

I'm curious to see what the breakdown cost of the Kinect 2 sensor will be and whether that played any sort of factor into the higher than expected price.

I don't think I can remember anyone saying they either expected or hoped the next gen Xbox would be priced this high.

Still factoring in the cost of XBL Gold on top since not everyone is going to be grandfathering their current subscription and even fewer bought a stack of XBLG one year subscription cards for the next 5-10 years before the price was adjusted.

Between this and all the restrictions regarding licenses and connection requirements, MS is pretty much leaving the door wide open for SCE here. They are really banking on customer loyalty and brand name recognition for success this time around.

I don't mind paying a little extra for consoles; they last many years. I'm not planning on buying an XBox One though.

Edit: Actually Live is overkill... It is too much.

Tooo high! I feel sorry for Xbox fans in the UK and Europe cause its sooo expensive. People in NA however are getting good value for their money considering it has TV functions, DVR, lots of games, etc.

A bit higher than I expected, now I'm starting to worry about the PS4 price as well.

Remember PS3 costed $499 in 2006.

Adjusted for inflation....$499 in 2013 is arguably a sweeter deal.

And we know MS is gonna subsidize and finance the crap out of this thing lol

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Yeah.A lof of people is forgetting you have to pay to play online.

Even without live, that's higher than the PS3 price at launch.

Sorry for bad English.

$499?! That's the exact same price the PS3 launched for. I'm guessing MS is in for a rough year or two after launch. Especially since Sony will most likely be beating them on price by $50-$100. I wish MS all the luck in the world, cause they are probably going to need it.
