$299 could very well happen seeing as M$ doesn't care about losing $$ as long as they can get this into people's living rooms.

but in the same graph they say they want to be profitable every year. if they lose 100$+ on every console i dont see that happening

Plans can be changed.

They don't want to lose relevancy in the console market. The only reason they entered in the 1st place was to push Windows and Direct X. They are fine losing billions in order to do so.

i dont think that is the case, i think they are after profitablity and high profit margins now. if they wanted market share they would have make gaming online free and had a price cut on the 360 for a long while now

Well Sony hasn't thrown away their TV division yet.

They want to push Windows into the living room before Apple and Google get there. If they have to lose billions to do it they will. Just like Sony willingly lost billions on the PS3 in order to stay relevant.

$299 would be an amazing price point. Although I believe $399 is more realistic. Either one and its day 1 for me.

$299 would definitely sway some people..not me but many others...

Wow, that is some extremely impressive planning by Microsoft. Its kinda scary how some of the things in these slides came true. I wish they'd shown us some of that illumiroom stuff at the reveal cause that looks amazing.
Also, a $299 price for Xbox One would actually be VERY good and could hurt the PS4 if the PS4 costs $100+ more. hmm, even though I'm currently favoring the PS4, if the Xbox One is $100 cheaper then I may actually start siding with the Xbox One again (provided the exclusives look great).

If that does happen then this holiday belongs to Microsoft, and probably the generation. Sony don't have a chance at matching that price.

The PS3 was sold at a $200 loss IIRC. According to Pachter's BOM for the two consoles the PS4 is cheaper to manufacture than the One as well. Saying they wouldn't have a chance at matching the price is pretty silly. That being said, I don't think MS or Sony want to go down that path.

The vast majority of gamers in the US use gamefly and/or Gamestop. So, no....just no.

I could almost see them selling for $299, but than increasing the price of live, and adding other subscription fees. Most people think short term, and not long term.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

Last time I checked, Gamefly had less than 1/2 a million users, and US Gamestop customers will still be able to buy and sell used games. Though I doubt the two of them account for the "vast majority" of the US games market, anyway.

I'm guessing the minimum they would price it at is $349. If so, Sony will most likely match them or just sell the PS4 for just $50 more. And seeing how a $200 more expensive PS3 outsold the 360, I doubt a $50 price difference will hurt the PS4 at all.

wasn't there a rumor sony was going to have "omni-glasses" or something? wonder if this is something both camps are working on. wouldn't suprise me given how similar ps4/xbone are so far. still not sure if i want those glasses but i guess it would be work a gander.
