I don't care what your background is, how can people support this? I guess loyalty does wonders for companies and governments, no matter how wrong the cause is.

Why would I let something that has no negative impact on the way I play games bother me? I should refrain from buying an Xbone because little Timmy in rural Kentucky doesn't have stable internet and can't figure out how to go into his phone settings and tether it to his Xbone? I should turn away from some of my favourite game franchises like Halo and Forza because of DRM? I still buy movies and music and I don't fully own those either. As long as I can play and enjoy them that's what's important to me.

Well why should it be acceptable? I understand you like Xbox and i respect that. what i don't respect is that Microsoft or any company thinks they have the right to impose such things on all of us. What if the successor comes out to the Xbox One and Microsoft just turns off Xbox live for Xbox One, rendering all your games and your Xbox One utterly useless? Wouldn't that piss you off? Especially, if you wanted to go back and play them, not like you could sell them because of these measures. We don't know what Microsoft could do down the line. Although, i hope they don't do that. Also, enjoy your new system.

If the company goes out of business (Steam, Microsoft, etc) then how will you be able to play the games?  Granted they could release a patch right before their collapse that unblocks all the DRM or whatever.  Anyways, imagine a future apocalypse where you are powering your TV, video game console through a generator and there isn't any internet.  How are you going to play those games if they are DRM to internet connection?  Granted my scenarios have a .0001% of chance of actually happening.  How about this scenario though...  Your city is struck by a huge disaster (although your house remains).  Internet services are down and you can't play video games.  Granted you probably have more things to worry about then playing a video game.  Hand helds are superior to home console systems in terms of playing after disaster!

Even if there was a disaster in my city and everyone's net went out I bet I could STILL tether my phone! Also, I live in Southern Onatrio between Toronto and Niagara Falls. We have basically no chance of natural disasters here. We're nowhere near any fault lines so earthquakes are  no-go, we're too far inland to worry about hurricanes, and we're far enough North that any tornadoes that do pop up are very small. But yeah, I guess if aliens show up and blast my city to pieces and wreck our internet service and all cell towers I will have to fall back on my 3DS lol.

I see what you're getting at, but it's really just not a realistic thing for me to worry about. The last thing I'm going to be worried about in any disaster or major power/net outage is video games.

As for companies like MS or Steam going out of business I would hope, and I suspect that they would release a patch to remove all DRM before they shut their doors. Only time will tell I suppose.

Truth is that this will not effect millions and millions (200m in America) of people and how they already play games. So yes, 10's of millions and millions of people will buy it. Maybe people like the OP should respect those people for those opinions. IF you don't like it then don't buy it but stop acting like it is the end of the world and spamming your hatred for something you "apparently" dont care about.

The issue is that you said you throw away games after you're done using them. If you invest in PS+ you can enjoy a slew of games without having to be bothered with filling up your trashbags, with videogames, and sending them to the dump. This is an excellent alternative, not only for you, but for the environment.

I don't 'support it' it just doesn't bother me so it's a non factor for me.

Mainly because I'm online all the time, don't buy used and don't lend games.

Why do you care what someone else is going to buy? Does it offend you that some people are still going to buy Xbox One? You probably won't respond but I will await an answer.

It should be acceptable because developers, artists, etc deserve to be paid for their work. How is it fair to someone who's putting a roof over the heads of their children with money made from developing video games to have one person buy their game and then pass it around to every friend they have so that they can all enjoy it for free? You don't think it's more fair that they should at least have to pay something for that privilege?

With all of the developers that have been losing money hand over fist for the last few years, how can you deny that used games/lending games might be a slight problem? And trust me, I hate to be the guy defending massive corporations, but I'm trying to look at the situation objectively. I like free stuff too, but I don't believe I am entitled to it at the expense of someone else.

Yea, my scenarios are just things that popped into my mind.  The biggest problem would be for people that live in remote places.  Those aren't really the main consumers of video games anyways.  Although I failed to mention one thing that could doom video games for good...  The almighty EMP bomb.  We would then have to go back to playing cards and board games.  Nintendo wouldn't be doomed though since they first started their business solely on making hanafuda cards.
