Forums - Nintendo - I find it funny that the gaming media thought 2008 was Nintendos worst year for games, yet it was nintendos most successful year by far in profits, game sales, and system sales for nintendos history

Professor Layton, Advance Wars, Fire Emblem, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Endless Ocean, Wii Fit, The World Ends With You, Final Fantasy IV 3D remake, Chrono Trigger DS, Dragon Quest IV, FF Tactics, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Animal Crossing: City Folk...

I am sure the media thought this was a wretched year.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Nintendo made a lot of money with games like Wii Fit and ignored true gamers. Only third party games like Endless Ocean and Disaster: Day of Crisis saved the Wii that year, plus it become clear that the Wii was going to win the gen.

Terrible year overall.

those games are all Nintendo made man

It shows it doesn't matter what people think of the E3 stage show and that in the grand scheme of things it's become more irrelevant as years have gone by.

can you give some data on the sales?

I agree with what the others are saying. If you really wanted to make this a serious topic for us to talk about, link the articles that said these things about Nintendo and show a list of games released in 2008 for Nintendo (and possibly sales figures too) to fully prove your point.

This really don't make sense. Smash Bros. and Mario Kart in one year!? How would that suck in any way?

I, for one, was not enthused about the Wii lineup in 2009. 2010, however, was awesome.

DS had been consistently kicking butt nearly every year.

Biggest Year ever for nintedo for software sales, Biggest year ever for nintendo for selling consoles, and biggest year ever for nintendo for profits. Their stock was at an all time and Nintendo dominated everyone this year, yet the media was saying lack of hardcore games killed this year. And i just think its funny how both sales and profits say otherwise, anyone else think this was somewhat funny or ironic?

I find it funny you dont provide a games list, no one ever claimed 2008 was the worst year of Nintendo games.

Totally. Nonsensical seems to be the norm these days.

Funny also that Animal Crossing, Mario Kart and Smash are hailed as these saviours. Smash is incredible, no doubt. But just those 3 still make it a very, very sparse gaming landscape in my book.

Well Iin addition to those 3, there was also De Blob, Boom Blox, Endless Ocean, Wii Music, Dragon Quest Swords, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Rock Band. Im not saying its the best year ever but it had a solid line up that hit many different genres.

OH MY GOD.

Now you're saying that 3rd party games count as "Nintendo games" !?

If that's the fact then Nintendo has been savagely raped every year this gen by MS or Sony or both.
