Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo to Clean Japanese Wiis Over Smash Bros. Errors

http://wii.ign.com/articles/849/849072p1.html

I don't know that much about dual-layer DVDs, and haven't bothered looking it up too much yet.  What's the implication of using dual-layer DVDs?  More storage?

the Wii is an epidemic.

Double the storage space, harder to pirate (in theory I suppose)

Yeah that sucks...kinda like the PS3 dust problem?

But at least Nintendo will fix them for free...even if the Wii is having a few more problems than your typical Nintendo sturdy system...they're still fixing them for free most of the time.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Is SSBB the first dual-layer game? is it just early models having problems or something (I didn't click the link, IGN takes a while to load from a Wii)

I wonder if the game takes a full DVD or something like 5.5 gigabytes?

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Apparently SSBB is the first game that use dual-layered DVDs

I am a PC gamer, and also have a NDS now, but without access to a Nintendo Wii until End of 2007.

Currently playing: Super Smash Brothers Brawl(Wii), Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer(DS), Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (DS), WiiFit(Wii)

Games Recently Beaten: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Normal; Very Hard after the next DLCs become available)

1 word: RTFA

Ok it loaded ok this time... tobacco?... have people been smoking in front of their Wiis?

Also isn't there such thing as a lens cleaning disc? could Nintendo not just send one of thise out to anyone with a dirty lens? [or am I thinking of VHS?]

From the article:
"This is something that the masses are apparently incapable of doing, so the Nintendo has decided to clean Wii units that are sent to them, free of charge."

Well most may not know that you can buy a diode cleaner. It's not as though that's common knowledge. You heard about VHS head cleaners more often then you do about diode cleaners.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

I don't see Microsoft or Sony ever doing something like this. This is the kind of thing which inspires your customers to trust you.

maybe this way they can tell all those people with modded Wiis "suckers, we won't clean your Wiis, you can't play smash brothers!"
