Kojima considers Sutherland a better candidate for the job. It's Kojima's choice, he has no obligation to keep Hayter. Yes, it's a strange decision since most MGS fans love Hayter, but again it's Kojima's choice.

David Hayter is still the voice of snake, not Kiefer Sutherland.

Obviously, it doesn't change the fact that fans will point out the bullshit and react to it accordingly. He can blame himself for being under fire. He either should have kept Hayter around like the fans want or have handled things better because it sure sounds like Hayter hasn't been treated with respect. I'm hoping this is all a horrible troll and Hayter will be involved. 

Except he was FIRED.  Which in itself sounds fishy since you have to do something wrong to get fired.

Next thing you know Roger Moore will be replaced as James Bond... Oh wait.

Actually, I am not a big fan of this move, but I have also seen my interest in MGS fade. I loved my first play through of MGS4, and wanted to go back and replay it, but when I finally tried to 4 years later, I find myself very distanced. I also did not get hyped for the HD remakes like I did on so many other titles.

If it turns out Hayter will not be returning, and this is the way they let him go, I think that would be the final nail in the coffin for this franchise for me.

So Sutherland is confirmed as Ishmael's voice. I want to say that Hayter is still voicing Big Boss and Ishmael is a Big Boss clone.

Probably because Hayter was still in the game already playing the lead role, and Big Boss showed up for all of 5 minutes? So no one really cared about the different voice because it was barely used during the game anyway? If Hayter was also in the new upcoming MGS game playing a prominent role I doubt there would be complaints about this one either.

I have never played MGS but I respect the games and like Hayter. But this is kinda BS, for alot of reason already mentioned.
