Veknoid_Outcast said: I really don't want to pile on the Microsoft fans here. As a Vita and Wii U owner, I know how frustrating all the doom and gloom can be. But there's no way to spin this news into a positive. At best it's an inconvenience. At worst it's a huge slap to the face of consumers, property rights, and the millions of people who don't have a steady internet connection, or no internet connection at all. |
This news IS positive for some, myself included. I won't be able to lend, borrow, or rent X1 games...but I almost never do that anyway. I won't be able to play without a semi-consistent internet connection...but I do have a stable internet connection, and anytime I move I'm going to make sure I continue to have one, because I will want it for more than just online gaming; also, I have no desire to set up a console in some offline location like a cabin in the woods or something like that.
In exchange, I get the ability to access all my games and all the progress I have made on them from any Xbox One anywhere, and I won't even need to carry a disc with me. That's pretty cool.
For those that do not have an internet connection that can be relied upon to be up at least once a day, or for those who aren't willing to give up the ability to rent/borrow/lend games, I'm sorry. I'm not going to tell you not to be upset; this is a tradeoff, and for some it's going to be a dealbreaker. Microsoft will have to #dealwith the consequences of that; how grave the consequences truly are, is still up in the air.
But for me, this is acceptable, and I look forward to seeing more Xbox One games at E3.
At the very least, if there's one thing I think we can all agree on, it's great that we FINALLY have some real answers.
