I don't want to "own" games so I could shove them up my ass and then show my friends how far it can go. I want to "own" games to play games to be entertained...

What part of "owning" and "playing" for the sake of entertainment is not possible with this online DRM model? Absolutely none.

You guys may argue that Microsoft may stop supporing the console down the line and cut off service to playing these games. If they decide to do that (which I find quite doubtful for at least 20 years after console launch) there is absolutely no reason why they won't just disable DRM for the console at that point and let you play without the online verification. DRM is just software that can be adjusted any time...

Xbox One also fully supports external storage and should give you the opportunity to back up all of your games, in case a game is pulled off Xbox Live for one reason or another.

While I agree that there are people out there that this console is absolutely not geared for, it works for me.  I understand if people with lack of internet availabilty complain...

But what I see around here is a lot of people that can easily enjoy this console and make it work, but who are are just looking to add extra meaning to their life by making a completely meaningless stand for a completely BS cause. Rights for gamers!  I have internet and can buy games and now can share them with family and friends, but yeah fight the power... Or just usual people bashing Microsoft for everything they can. Not sure where you belong...both?

Where does it say "share with family and friends".

You can login to your own device and people on that device can also play it. ( no changes to basic disc or digital rights now)

You can login to a friends xbone and play it at their house. ( no changes to takign disc to their house now, but adds new feature to digital ownership)

But you cannot give them your live account and let them play it while you play it at home. (no changes to now)

So, you're gaining nothing.  But you're losing ownership and real value in used markets if that option will even be available to per the publisher.

Basically, there is far more risk and cost and no new value.

Again, I'm not talking about losing power or internet etc, I could care less about that. While I don't think its great for the many millions of gamers without great internet, that's not my problem. That is just bad business, not a dramatic change in ownership rights.

Sorry family member sharing only...

"Give your family access to your entire games library anytime, anywhere: Xbox One will enable new forms of access for families. Up to ten members of your family can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One. Just like today, a family member can play your copy of Forza Motorsport at a friend’s house. Only now, they will see not just Forza, but all of your shared games.  You can always play your games, and any one of your family members can be playing from your shared library at a given time."

In terms of ownership and losing value, games have the worst depriciation of any product out there. Within a month usually you lose half of the value. Within a year you'd be happy to get 5 bucks for 80% of the games out there. Its definetly not an investment you should consider for any other purpose other than entertainment.

I see a slew of potentials here with this family thing that will save me and my friends lots of money. but even if it falls through, so be it, I may not buy as much. All I know is that I have ~50 bucks every week dedicated to gaming, most of which end up sitting and rotting in me Steam library or on a bookshelf.

This Xbox One absolutely changes nothing for me.
