Forums - Nintendo - Just got back from my local Gamestop, "They say Nintendo does not send them new DSXL's anymore"

About fucking time. They should slowly phase out the existing stock and get the people to buy a 3DS instead...

Good to see that nintendo is doing everything in its power to stop Spurgeonryan getting any Nintendo systems.. They just don't wanna be associated with Spurgey..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

It's always the dillema if your newer systems are struggling like current main Nintendo's console are (mainly Wii U, 3DS isn't maybe super-hot but the sales are good).

You can make a price-cut for the last-gen offerings but it will only make them more appealing, which may turn to under-cut the sales of newer consoles. I think, judging by the Wii sales in US and Europe compared to the Wii U sales in those regions, they shouldn't go with any other price cut, and after this holiday season just cease the production of the Wii, only clearing the stock that is left. Wii U already will have steady competition this year with PS3/PS4/Xbone it doesn't need to compete with the Wii and Nintendo will have a milestone 100 million selling console.

It's a smaller issue with the DS as the demand is really low, and 3DS sales look stable and shouldn't be under-cut by a DS price reduction, not that it will have much of an effect in my opinion anyway.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

For some reason, they only get the DSlite now. I am guessing the reason is so that consumers will buy the 3DSXL instead of the Cheaper DSXL.

Kind of surprising though. Maybe we are getting closer and closer to the DS being discontinued in the West after all? I think we will get the last price drop for the Wii and the DS this Christmas. It would be a crime for Nintendo do dump these systems without the final price cut coming into place.

RIP DS in the U.S?

The DSi XL was phased out awhile back.  There's just the DSi, 3DS & 3DS XL now.  They kept the DSi to have a sub $100 unit, and it still sells very well.

Stop hating and start playing.

The DS line as a whole, I expect to be here for another year or so. IIRC the only DS that is still sold is the DSi. The XL isn't really selling very well, so if it isn't discontinued already, they're phasing it out now.

It won't be surprising if, yes, they drop the price this year, near the holiday, and they discontinue it sometime in the summer/early holiday next year. The DS is performing, but not nearly as well as it was, of course, and might become an annoying thing that just keeps coming back for Nintendo to take care of soon.

Nintendo should just go and release them as DSiQue and keep selling them in China and expand to other countries India Africa whatever.

These are the fruits of Nintendo and Gamestop's unprecedented partnership.

I could see them doing the same thing with Wii, that way 3DS and Wii U get full attention.

Not really that surprising to be honest. The 3DS has been out for around 2 years (I think...). No gaming system will stay on the market forever.

That and the DSi XL is probably not selling very well compared to other DS versions and of course, the 3DS and 3DS XL.

The DSi XL is only $100 less here in Australia too, it was competing against the 3DS and 3DS XL, not good for Ninty in the long term. I assume the prices are somewhat similar in other countries?
