Interesting that the game is being made in Canada instead of Europe.

"EA Canada-developed tie-in to hit shelves April 11th

EA has confirmed that UEFA Euro 2008 is being developed by EA Canada, and will be out on multiple platforms this April.

The game is scheduled to appear on Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP, PC and mobile phones, and is the only chance that us English folk will get to rewrite history and sneak the national team into the tournament.

“Our game, UEFA Euro 2008, celebrates the passion fans have for their national teams by capturing all of the national rivalries in-game, and enabling you to captain your country or play as your heroes and inspire them to glory,” said EAs lead producer Simon Humber.

“We have taken our football engine to another level and added innovative new features to create a video game that captures and simulates the real-world experience and all the emotion of this tournament.”

Hmm... every system except Nintendo's platforms. I call EA lazy as Konami are putting PES08 on the Wii and I hear nothing but good things about the controls.

On-topic: I've always seen the sidestory football games from EA as a way to milk football fans around the world. They don't invest anything on creating a game, they just create a new tournament mode, update rosters and that's it. I already have a World Cup tourney and a UEFA cup tourney on my PC version of FIFA 08... and it took my like 10 minutes.

Exactly, only quality games like Gingerbread man or Chicken Shoot should grace the platform.

Jokes aside, I have no idea what EA's thinking, it makes 0 sense, even if they predict Wii won't sell as much as we think.

PS2 and Mobile versions but no Wii or DS?

I think they're thinking that gritty, realistic sports sims haven't done well on the Wii in any region, and they'd be right.

That could change, obviously, but I bet they'd been working their butts off to get a Wii version out if Madden Wii had sold better.  

This obviously means we'll see some kind of cartoonish Fifa on Wii and DS.
