Forums - Microsoft - Hideo Kojima Game, Xbox One Exclusive?

disolitude said:

The notion that a single amazing exclusive will kill the other consoles is flawed at best... Those days are gone once the Wii came in to the picture and took a shit on both HD consoles in terms of sales the day GTA IV came out.

How about a Pokemon console MMO? Just wishful thinking =P

he always wants to do something new yet he ends up doing MGS :P

what happened to your new Wii game Kojima?

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

I speak now that this isn't a Xbox fan consensus. We are trying to be realistic here :)

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

While I've said what I think about this theory earlier in this thread...I do find it amusing at the amount of comments hinting at - "no this is wrong and can't be true, I like Metal Gear and Kojima but I am a Playstation fanatic"

It makes much more sense to get the console which has the games you want to play people...

his last few games disappointed me, so this wouldn't tempt me into buying a xbox one

The father of Metal Gear told Kotaku that he'd like to make games for Natal that appeal to people who like his own work and Halo.

Hideo Kojima elaborated on his interest in Microsoft's hands-free Xbox controller system, Project Natal, during his interview with Kotaku at the Tokyo Game Show on Friday. He was following up on comments he made during an all-star Natal panel of Japanese developers.

"I am very interested in Natal," he said through a translator. "It seems like magic." Some of the excitment around Project Natal has been from those who see it broadening the access of gaming systems to non-gamers, of making the Xbox 360, like the Wii before it, a better generator of casual experiences.

That's not where Kojima's interest lies.

"I'm not interested in making Natal games for casual users, but I'm interested in making games that hardcore users always wanted to play," he said. "I want to make to a core game experience on Natal — something that , like a Halo or Gears of War or, of course, like Metal Gear Solid, is a core experience. It's not like I just want to make an FPS. And I don't want to make something that's very simple. I want to make something that is deep for players. I want to give them something that is a deeper experience with Natal."

Kojima said he was also interested in the potential of the Natal's voice-recognition and motion-sensing systems to empower a machine to recognize and maybe even "understand" a person. But while he's interested in that, he thinks creators other than him will be the ones to focus on that aspect.

No chance, MS would have to pay Konami big bucks and even then they would probably consider it a diservice to japan since they mostly wont want to buy a Kojima game on the Xbox since the PS4 will offer similar but better specs.

OH NO! Japan would be disserviced!?!?!? Somebody tell Japan to deal with it. Western consumers matter more to Konami.

Japanese will buy the games on whatever platform has the games they want. They bought 360s for Tales of Vesperia, Star Ocean 4, and they'll buy MS's new machine for Kojima's game.

I do not believe that is entirely true, they do still make Panchiko machines you know ^^. Also Pro Evolution Soccer sells just as well in Japan as it does in EU which is FIFA dominated. So Konami knows their market.

Tales of Vesperia on the PS3 sold more in Japan than the Xbox 360 version. Not sure about Star Ocean 4 not even Lost Odyssey made the Japanese buy the 360. I just really doubt Konami will just forget their fanbase in the Playstation side all of a sudden.

Not saying this because I believe they will do a diservice (hardly) but I just think that's a lot of money they'll be leaving behind.

It doesn't matter if Vesperia or Star Ocean 4 ultimately sold better on PS3. They boosted hardware sales when they released on the 360. The only reason 360 sales weren't better in Japan because MS didn't keep bringing games Japanese consumers enjoy. Japan is a very predictable market.

They aren't leaving money behind if MS's throws money at them. I think that's how it works.

yeah, and Rising isn't even on 360 in Japan..........

Hmm... Given that Microsoft has been buying either exclusivity or stealing Sony's exclusivity, I think it's quite likely that there will either be a Kojima exclusive title or that MGS will go multiplatform.

The Metal Gear Solid is the only big, remaining Sony 3rd party exclusive franchise that I can think of, so it only makes sense that Microsoft would go after it.

Heck, no one thought Final Fantasy would be multiplatform last generation...
