Hm, doesn't make sense if they want to support that light ribbon on PS4 controller in any game - if I understood it correctly, it needs camera to detect it. I don't think fragmentation is such a good idea, tbh.

Hope this is not the case. Sony has to have this thing packed in with every unit, and make it an integral part of the system. If devs can not expect this in every system, then Sony has just handed MS a large number of exclusive titles. They saw what happened by not packing the PSEYE in with every PS3 last gen, they better not make the same mistake again.

Slight mis-step if true IMO. Like it or not motion gaming is a legitimate genre now, and it's a family genre.
Consider this:
Wii U comes packed with hardware that covers all gaming genres, except the music/singing genre.
Xbone comes packed with hardware that covers all gaming genres except the music/singing genre.
PS4 comes packed with hardware that does not cover either the motion genre or the music/singing genre.
PS4 has less broad appeal than its competition.
Sure motion gaming isn't going to cause a seismic shift in the market, but broadening your potential customer base by having the family friendly, wholesome face of gaming genre available out of the box with no extra expense required gives you an edge. MS and Nintendo have that edge, PS4 might not.
And this won't make PS4 the cheapest console on the market either, in fact it may only make it the same price as Xbone.

Why show off how you can do split screen multi-player with the PlayStation 4 Camera and how it'll automatically recognize gamers then NOT include that feature in the console? The features and benefits of the PlayStation 4 Camera are limited so far as we currently know. So why not include it to ensure people have it and use it?
So basically, the PS4 will be on par with the Xbox 360 in terms of it's camera features.
Even though I don't plan on using the PSeye with the PS4, I think this isn't a great idea tbh.

What about selling the console by itself, and letting people choose whether they want a controller or a camera? That would lower the price even further.

not really great news except for price. it only means wasted money for R&D since developers would not really have a market. included is more of a benefit. a cheaper or even price will totally destroy xbox one in the midst of there messaging dooky fest since the reveal. sony execs were smart. sort of me no speaka english after their lackluster reveal. those same questions that microsoft stupidly answered could've been ask then. sony kept quiet to see what ms did. and watch the weather vane. positive news they wouldve hopped on it. negative news run from it.
watch the price points. sony has a few in mind. microsoft will be stupid to throw out a price first at e3

A controller is required, a camera is not.
I was assuming it's packed in. I'd hope it's packed in. Otherwise that just means next to no support and we can't use the full DS4 feature set out of the box...
4 ≈ One
I'm a little surprised that it won't be bundled. The controller has the light on it and evry time they show the controller they show the camera. They sure gave an impression of it being bundled.
Go Team Venture! I still don't get the Wii, PS Move, and Kinect.
