Sorry but I did not see anywhere that a "hardcore" gamer should be older than a certain age or not be a COD fan.

I think I explained myself quite clearly some four posts ago.

Oh and who are you? The official english dictionary?

I saw your post and this is your opinion/definition of hardcore gamer... Not mine... And like my definition; yours is very subjective.

If you look at the definition of hard-core in the dictionary, it basically says that it is someone very loyal to something and these kids are pretty loyal to the Call of Duty brand if you ask me. They are playing more than the average "adult/nostalgic/elitist" out there who believe "he" or "she" is the perfect hardcore gamer model.

First of all, I may not be the english dictionary but I can read: we were discussing the term "hardcore gamer" and not "hard - core" in general. Savvy ?

Second of all, the hole in the OP's theory is not subjective at all: he deliberately tries to sway the issue into a case of good customer vs bad customer but buying many titles does not account for a variety of games. Savvy ?

If you want to discuss the issue on the basis that a hardcore gamer is a competitive gamer in a specific game or genre that is another thing. Savvy ?

OP: In my opinion (and my definition of hardcore gamer), which is someone who plays a lot of time and to a lot of games. Yes, I think the 360 has more hardcore gamers but not by far.

Playing only every CoD title or every Halo title (and they are extensively milked franchises, accounting for a major chunk of software sold) does not mean you actually play a lot of games.

Also playing WoW 24/7 doesn't make you a hardcore gamer.

That's your opinion.
My definition of hardcore gamer  is being loyal to a game (or more than one) and playing it (or playing in general) a lot.

I agree. Imho if you play games a lot, you're a hardcore gamer. It doesn't matter what games they are or how much variety is thrown in. To me a gamer who spends 14+ hours per week playing CoD or WoW is just as "hardcore" as someone who spend the same amount of time on 5-6 different games.

Once you start trying to define it on a level deeper than that, you start to see peoples agendas and negativity seep in.

"or more than one" OR MORE THAN ONE ?! Nice save.

That is the very hole in the so called Xbox's hardcore base theory. When you only play CoD or Halo and you waste all of your time and money into these franchises, you are not a hardcore gamer, you are a hardcore Call of Duty gamer. You are a hardcore WoW gamer.

Savvy ?

I'm not clever enough to understand this line of reasoning. Can somebody summarize me what the OP is talking about?

Savvy? Just sit down and take long breath :)
And if you post that kind of picture with the 2 kids with a single "are we done" and close the door to any debate, don't expect gentle replies!

Now again, definition of hardcore gamers are so subjective. And even if we go by one of your definition (quoting you here) : "hardcore gamer is a competitive gamer in a specific game or genre". These kids are exactly THAT... Like it or not.

We can measure this using attach ratio, which is the ratio between software sold and hardware sold. It tells us the average number of games each consumer buys.

This is the attach ratio. This is hardcore.

We done ?

They seem core to me. In fact, kids can be the most core since they have more time to devote to gaming. Just because they play the same game series doesn't negate their identity as a core gamer. From a business perspective, a consumer who buys 10 games of the same franchise is just as "core" to their business as someone who buys 10 games from different franchises.

I say no. Xbox 360 games have sold more because of the look the PS3 has received that most of the games are going to be poor ports. There are a lot of gamers that have both a PS360 and only buy exclusives on the PS3 while multiconsole on the 360.

With most 360 owners owning a PS3 and most collector's or game enthusiasts purchasing more games than your average consumer, it's safe to say that there's a large majority of games purchased by 360 owners who also own a PS3.

So in this argument the only way to go is by console sold and the PS3 has the most consoles sold.

You should whatch your tone now.
Insulting Xbox gamers or Call of Duty fans is not going to help.

And again, you decided that an hardcore gamer should not be attached to only one gender or to a single franchise... That's not everyone's definition.

Yes, and the Wii beats out all of them.

Jay, weren't you the one to try and demolish these blanket statements? (Things like hardcore, AAA, etc.) I smell a conspiracy around this thread, and I'm not sure if I like it all too much!

Only when left undefined and open to interpretation. It's okay when you clearly define it, as I've done. Did you read the OP?
