Hmm as of now there must be more gamers that "grew up" with a Sony console. You only need to go by the numbers, I guess. PlayStation and PS2 combine for more than 200 million sold.

I thought Sony consoles weren't made for kiddies. That's Nintendo's job!

That doesn't prevent kids from playing all consoles and deciding which one they like best.
I think the big difference is that Nintendo fans also play Nintendo games, while if you buy a Playstation most people play 3rd party games so I don't think they have the same kind of relationship with PS as others have to Nintendo. .. but that's just my thoughts.
I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!
Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

They are. I buy Playstation to play Sony's first parties. We have the luxury of playing both.
Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

250 Million+
No, I don't think so. Remember, lots of Playstation gamers have already switched once, away from Nintendo. I think many people who game on a Sony console would switch again if something came along that blew them away in the same manner as the original Playstation. I don't see that happening in the upcoming generation but you never know.
On the other hand, I think there are quite a few Nintendo fans who would stay loyal to Nintendo even if the next Nintendo console had zero games. They'd just talk on the Miiverse about how ballsy Nintendo is for not having games. While dressed up as Link.
