There would be meltdowns even if it's announced to be multi platform to Xbox One.
Do you feel that Xbox One will need Square Enix in the first year? | |||

In Japan lol
I think that MS will make an exclusive deal with SE, so they can make some exclusive games for the Xbox one like they did with Infinite Undiscovery and the timed exclusive Star Ocean 4.
But will it help is the other question.
No one needs Square Enix.

Anyway I would love for Square Enix and other Japanese devs to support the next Xbox more than what they did this generation. Square Enix and Namco Bandai are two very important devs IMO and I love the games they make.
Why would they?

...sorry. :p
No, Microsoft doesn't NEED Square Enix (presumably meaning SE's Japanese titles for which they are best known; games from Western SE studios like Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal are a different matter). Missing out on Final Fantasy or some other SE JRPG is certainly not ideal (you always want more games on your platform, not less), but JRPGs as a whole are not the huge, moneymaking juggernaut like they used to be, and Final Fantasy as a brand is weaker than it has ever been. Xbox's bread and butter has always been shooters, WRPGs, open world games, and other Western-oriented genres; getting a few JRPG fans to jump on board is icing on the cake. The only Japanese games that Microsoft need to get are the action-oriented ones with wide Western appeal (like Resident Evil and Street Fighter).

Yes, Xbone needs more vaporware, generic JRPGs, and remakes if it wants to be successful next gen.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
No, because the Japan market is irrelevant to Microsoft. They tried early on in the 360 life cycle releasing a bunch of JRPG exclusives / timed exclusives (Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Infinite Undiscovery, Star Ocean, Last Remnant, Tales of Vesperia) to try to tap into the Japanese market but was met with lackluster success. I think for this gen MS isn't even going to bother going out of their way to secure any JRPG exclusives. It's a declining genre and even a franchise like FF isn't a system seller for MS. Their biggest market is North America and FPS is the dominant genre here. That is what they'll focus on.
