I didn't see a rebuttal to my counter=argument. Just some off-point banter.

Cool that you do that, but you have yet to explain how avoiding commericals is fleecing anyone. And using a DRV to avoid them is not conducive to your argument.

Have you abandoned it?

Do you not see a clear difference between streaming stuff illegally and not looking at the adverts?

I am more concerned about the attitude, that people thing that they can make their own rules. I have a friend who has decided that they can watch a whole series of TV, then decide if it is worth it to buy the DVD, that is not the way the system works

Lol, you're so focused on the legality of it.

There is literally no difference between me NOT watching a commerical because I chose to access the show online versus me NOT watching the commercial because I went to take a piss.

And that's the fundamental issue I have with your complaint.

Tell me, who is losing out here?

That is precisely my problem. The precise theory of how TV companies work out whether or not to cancel a show is viewship figures (beyond premium cable) as then they can work out how much to charge from adverts. These are worked out by people having boxes in their house measuring what they watch and then this is extrapolated. Now this is clearly a very flawed system, but it is the system.

So in theory, you not watching makes no difference, unless you happen to have a Nielsen box in your house. In the long term, the companies advertising will realise that nobody is watching TV and thus their ad money is wasted, but that is more complicated. So in this precise case, what you are doing makes no difference

The problem is more broad than this. The problem is that people fundamentally don't think they need to pay for TV whether or not it is just them "skipping the adverts." In some cases is doesn't make any difference, in some cases it does. It is not up to you to decide whether or not you watching tv illegally effects the makers of the programme.

I use my kinect and my tv for basically all of my entertainment needs. Nothing like voice controls for watching videos

I don't even have a TV. I use a projector and have no way to watch regular TV, so... I don't watch any series at the moment either.

No other way for me to watch my absolutely awful New York Mets. I tried MLB.TV but since I live in NY the games are blacked out. SO am paying out the ass for the Mets and 2-3 TV shows, all because I am forced to pay for Telemundo and all these other non-English channels and even Yankees crap on YES.

I also have Netflix, which is great.

Now, if HBO could just get a subscription based thing going and SNY could as well. I could avoid all this Cablevision garbage and TV networks wanting more cash from my pocket to NOT watch their programs that I am for some reason being forced to pay for.

atdee.net   Best website EVAR if you're sports fan who doesn't want to take it in the rear for the premium networks from the major sports associations (like in the situation you described. HOWEVER....

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT

download any adverstised desktop apps or software on the site. You'll be asking for a virus. In fact, I recommend using Firefox + the NoScript extension, and only allowing the jscript from the sites absolutely needed to watch the streams (the streams are proxied across different servers).

I use add-ons for Chrome, so I don't get those popups.

My internet is also iffy at times. I tried watching some Penguins playoff games through live streams and I always had issues. Luckily for me I can use GameCenter since they are out of network.

I stream the one tv show that interests me. I forgot what watching a mind-numbing commercial felt like,

well.. for me i watch TV every now and then. but for the tv shows and movies that i want to see i just torrent them on my portable hard drive and then plug it into my PS3 and watch it on TV. i tried going the legal route with my tv shows and movies but unfortunately i live in a country where netflex and hulu and others are not available which would have been my favorite way to watch since i'm keen on watching tv shows from the 90's and wrestling episodes from that era too but i try to be legal as much as i can just like with my games as they are 100% legal and all of them i buy new on my PS3 to support the developers.
