If you plan on getting the collector edition I would wait for the game to come out since it comes with the first one and just buy the second issue.

96% on Metacritic is very impressive, could this give Naughty Dog as much GOTY's as their best game Uncharted 2?

I dont think so. 

Uncharted had the advantage of releasing during the holiday season, with hype still large. Uncharted 2 didnt have as much competition, neither.

This will pick up GotY awards, but I really cant see it dominating as much as U2 did.

I can't see it dominate either as there are an insane amount of games coming out.

But.. I can see it winning the most, still. I think Infinite grabs a few but ultimately it depends on how well GTAV does.

MGS4 came out the exact same date 4 years ago and still dominated with very little install base...and it launched bigger than ANY Uncharted game

But, MGS was bigger than Uncharted, at the time. Not the best comparison. It was the first, real, break-out hit for the PS3.

And it's been five years, not four. ;)

MGS4 - 1.8 Million

Uncharted never really got any bigger than this.

Of course Uncharted hasn't gotten bigger than that, because nothing has released on home console since Uncharted 3 and it IS the biggest opener. Not the point, though. MGS4 was already part of an established franchise. 

In terms of hype and reviews...the last of us is defineltly being treated like the sequel to Uncharted 3. And Uncharted is a series which is now commerically more sucesful than MGS. Considering the only thing which is selling Uncharted is naughty dog's brand name...I think this game could do MGS launch numbers for this reason
