But, MGS was bigger than Uncharted, at the time. Not the best comparison. It was the first, real, break-out hit for the PS3.

And it's been five years, not four. ;)

Uncharted 3 - 1.3 million

MGS4 - 1.8 Million

Uncharted never really got any bigger than this. 

Of course Uncharted hasn't gotten bigger than that, because nothing has released on home console since Uncharted 3 and it IS the biggest opener. Not the point, though. MGS4 was already part of an established franchise. 

In terms of hype and reviews...the last of us is defineltly being treated like the sequel to Uncharted 3. And Uncharted is a series which is now commerically more sucesful than MGS. Considering the only thing which is selling Uncharted is naughty dog's brand name...I think this game could do MGS launch numbers for this reason
