Forums - Microsoft - Kinect camera can be deactivated in privacy settings

Saw this over on NeoGaf

If you want privacy, we'll give you modes that ensure your privacy. And we actually have a little bit about this on the Web already. We will have something similar for the Kinect with Xbox One. The system is designed to have Kinect be an integral part of the experience. It's not the case where you'll be able to remove the camera altogether. But you'll be able to put the system in modes where you can be completely secure about the fact that the camera is off and can't see you.

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

The all seeing eye is always watching.

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

Let us unplug it. End of problem. Give the optiuon for people who don't care about "Voice" controls.

All of this bitching wouldn't have been nearly as bad if these executives could have just said this shit in the first place.

For all the people paranoid about kinect watching you and MS peeping around...just turn around and make it face the wall. Jeez.

But don't consider buying X1 until the used games policy has been cleared up and is not anti-consumer. We must quash that silliness first.

They made it seem like you cant unplug it or something.

Yo these motherfuckers really tried to create a police-state-console

You gotta turn that bitch towards the wall lol

Yeah, that is the thing. I am wondering if new Kinect somehow works alongside the Xbone, maybe Kinect does some tasks for Xbone?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

I'm not buying this but is Kinect 2 wireless? If not and I were interested in the system I'd be pissed. A weekend at my moms and the cats chewed through my laptop charger, 2 phone usb chargers, modem power plug and another plug I took for something to replace the modem plug. I wouldn't care if they chewed through the Kinect wire but if it needs to be connected Id be pissed
