we've already had this conversation before...
"It’s better than Xbox – sorry, it is better –"
I guess he's talking about the Xbox One. If that's the case then lol xD
Nintendo and PC gamer
Big leap....compared to the wii which in terms of specs, was a generation behind everyone else as well.
And no, more power is always needed, but true that only good games will utilise these new opportunities.

That is very wrong sadly.
The chipset might have the ability to run the same dx/openGL, but that doesn't mean it can properly. Take, for exmaple, Unreal 4. The WiiU does not have enough power to run many of its new features eg. high volume particle effects, dynamic lighting, tesselation, destructive scenery etc. To put it simple, just because a car has an engine does not mean it can pull 40 tons of frieght. Engines come in different shapes and sizes, and so does computing hardware.
Oh, and when devs get their hands into the new consoles, all previous consoles will look dated. That is guaranteed.
I don't think people are really giving it a chance. The Wii U isnt like the last gen consoles. Its CPU and GPU are together on the same dye and can work together. Also its PPC not x86 and up until it was announced for Nintendo with Wii was how PPC was superior to x86 and a 2.0ghz ppc could outperform a 3.2ghh x86( for example).
I really dont see us ever having a jump like we did last gen. I am not saying the technology isnt there to do so but its just too costly for everyone involved. I dont want to see 100.00 games and triple the loss of developers that we saw this gen and I doubt most companies do either.
Been saying this for a year now. No one listens.
Now that the xbox one is revealed and all stats known, do people still think that its the leap they thought it was? Its only a difference of texture detail and frame-rate. To the naked eye, the difference isnt much.

Not at all. Everyone who says such a thing simply has not seen what modern engines are capable of.

Of course. I'd like to see more examples and less faith leaping.

Doesn't fun, unige and innovative make a game a good game? What is a good game for example? Who defines "good" games?

I'm sure that nobody saw what Wii U is really capable to do as well
