1 - Buy 10 games.

2 - Install the 10 games. Disc isn't needed anymore to play them.

3 - Unplug your Xbox One from the internet forever.

4 - Go to Gamestop and sell your ten games to get some $$$ back.

But the games get wiped from your account when you sell them back.

The games are installed in the Xbox One's HDD.

When you sell them a game the "delete game X from profile Y in console Z" command is ordered, but it cannot reach your console until it goes online.

Since your console has to go online once every 24 hours or the games do not work, that point is irrelevant, plugged in or not.

That's what I'm trying to explain, why going online every 24 hours is necessary, otherwise those shenanigans are possible.

This comes from here:

Checking every 24 hours is unnecessary. Why not just check when registering a new game to the system?

What exactly happens if you dont check in every 24 hours? Are they going to lock you out and hold the content you payed for hostage as if gamers are criminals?

Because otherwise I could rent a ton of games (or buy lots of games and sell them later), install them, not connect anymore to internet and play those games infinitely.

Damn quote tree policy :P

This is so unnecessary. All they had to do was go to gamestop to make a deal with them. Why not just get a cut from the used game profit that they make? Thats all they had to do

They want to add complications to the gaming world.

so i can sell used but only to those that MS deems worthy of being a reseller like (probably) gamestop. knowing MS policies to date this will probably be very strict with only a few "approved" resellers and i wouldn't put it past MS to make regional "exclusivity" agreement.

better than the rumors? yes, but just barely.

btw, if this is true, and GameStop or whomever gets $3.50 per game, how much is the consumer going to get?

I buy all my PC games new (many on sale), Console games I perfer physcal copies of, especially when we have multiple consoles in a house, so perhaps the kids can play in the family room with friends, while we use another system upstairs, these things will go away, and I can see them all doing it now, I love Nintendo, but I am almost positive if Sony does the same, Nintendo will follow suit as well, they could gain a ton of $$ from their own games, this will become how the industry works, it is practically almost inevitable at this moment.

probably a code pressed on the disc.. or they could put it in a pc bluray drive and pc software will read it out MS will probably give those away when you are a partner to the program..

Like every freakin PC game you buy at the store, it will come with a code, printed on the manual or on a card in the box, there is no need to press a code on a disc or encode it somehow.

But that system wouldn't work anymore with this new system.. How would gamestop know the code if its on a card? How would they know the game code on the card is connected to that particular disc?

otherwise i could screw my friend by trading in all my games with their codes..  letting me keep my games in my account and have money to spend on new games

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

So Bob brings Battlefield 96 to the store, he brings his disc, and his code in, now Bob has to verify his name, and his gamertag/id/etc, because even now Bob has to show ID or already be in the system with said store, and legally sign off saying he is trading in his own property, gamertag/id/etc matches existing credentials and codes, game removed from system. Bob gets $.075 toward his next purchase.

Call me an asshole if you all wish, but if this is the practice they are going with now, then I am going 100% PC and going to only pirate my games.

I am sick of them thinking I should just bend over and take it in the ass. Shit, they don't even seem to have the courtesy to lube that shit up before they ram it in.

there is nothing wrong with taking it in the ass.. a lot of girls do  it and seem to enjoy it..

I agree, but in this case it is more like rape.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I certainly hope the games themselves become cheaper with this new system, only reason why I would support this elaborate anti-consumer scheme.

and that is why I stick to Nintendo!
(no need for explanation here)

Your XBone needs to check in via internet once every 24 hours. If not, you can't play anything.

MS is gonna rake in some nice dough between system profits, xbox live costs and now this.
Doesn't effect me much since I buy 1-2 used games a year, probably won't buy any now.

It's just that simple.
