So Bob brings Battlefield 96 to the store, he brings his disc, and his code in, now Bob has to verify his name, and his gamertag/id/etc, because even now Bob has to show ID or already be in the system with said store, and legally sign off saying he is trading in his own property, gamertag/id/etc matches existing credentials and codes, game removed from system. Bob gets $.075 toward his next purchase.
