I was really reffering to DieAppleDie, he was the one talking about faults and you argreed with him, if you didnt agree with that part ignore it.

But see thats just it. Whose to say they didnt and WONT buy junk again look at some of the very top sellers on the system. WHy did they sell so well? Was it really because they were quality? Or popular? THey didnt stop making games, those "expanded market" kept getting made and only recently stop. Hell there was 3 games in the Deca Sports line alone. But every later release sold worst than the prior one. Why? Is it because what you say that they dont buy crap and realized it was always crap and stop buying or they lost interest.

YOu say quality went down? When? How? WHat games got worst?

Core, casual, mainstream, dedicated. Its the same thing, but i will use whatever words you want. BUt no one explained to me yet what 3rd parties were supposed to do (this is really for DieAppleDie). I suspect what some wanted to happen but that may be a discussion for another day.

Okay, thanks for clarifying.

I think that there's a difference between the market I'm thinking of and the usual casual audience. The difference would be that the casual audience will buy games like NSMB but in general the extended market would not. The extended audience are those that saw the Wii at first and thought "that's what I want!". It's not the same as those that bought NSMB and MK, but might be a portion of those who bought Wii Fit for example.

A good parallel in the movie industry are a good portion of people who watch those movies that reach a vast audience. Examples are Star Wars at the time, and the Matrix in more recent years. These are people who will adopt the product or content because it speaks to them and there was a lot of word of mouth, it is not niche.

That's why I believe that these people not only don't have patience for games, but even less for games of low quality. So, games like Rabbids will not be their cup of tea, much like NSMB may not be to their level of relevance.

I see where you are coming from, but im still not feeling the quality bit. Its funny you mention Rabbids, because that is one of the series that actually got MORE popular on WIi one of the few that actually increased its numbers. It didnt do NSMB numbers but did do good. I think there is alot of overlap between who bought WiiFit and NSMB and even MK. I mean, very few games sold anywhere close to that and those are the ones that are still being bought. Its such a contrast between the other two where you'll see a game get frontloaded hang around and dissapear.

I don't see the Xbone filling the gap, not at the price it will probably be sold at (~500$ since Kinect2 is bundled).

Not in the beginning anyways, but the Ipad is quite expensive itself. If Casual gamers are interested enough in all the gimmicks that the Xbone gives them, maybe they will. the wii mote alone was enough to get them on board.

a tablet is not a console, dont know why people keep trying to compare the two.

ouya?

you can't get more casual then appealing to TV watchers lol

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Maybe an apple tv device.

While it's true there was endless crap on Wii, there's far more crap on Apple/Android. But they have prominent user ratings and rank according to popularity (and search match) so it's easy for casuals to find the gems out of the sea of trash.

Nintendo could and and absolutely should have done a similar thing. They sort-of introduced that concept buried in the Nintendo Channel but few casuals would look there. So I blame Nintendo for mishandling that.

Mobile devices are the casual gaming systems of choice but I expect MS to target that market with Xbox One/Kinect.

Re: Price - Casuals shelled out $200 for Rock Band and $400 for Xbox/Kinect. There are not cheap, if there's a compelling offer. I also expect Xbox One to be subsidized with payment plans ($199 with 2 year XBL subscription)

For once I agree with this guy. You really just can't.

4 ≈ One

I doubt the PS4 and Xbox One will have big yearly sales like the Wii. The Wii was sold out worldwide throughout 2007 because of it's price. The next gen consoles might be a bit too expensive for casual gamers. But if Nintendo miraculously releases a Wii U bundle with Mario Kart U for $249.99, R.I.P. Xbox and PS4.
