Forums - Microsoft - why all the negative comments on the xbox one?

Almost everything about it so far looks horrible; too much multimedia focus, used game fees...

I haven't been this uninterested in a major home console since I started gaming.

sorry you are wrong. Media focus does not take away the awesome gaming features. It just makes the overall console more awesome. And no good game is worth buying used anyway. The way I see it, this console is for real gamers who support developers...as opposed to people like yourself.

Multimedia does take away from gaming. It means the design and support will be less tailored to games specifically because  it has to accomodate non-gaming features. It means I'd have to pay for a bunch of features I don't want or need.

I support developers who deserve it. I buy things new when the  devs really put the effort in and create a great game.

As for "real gamers" give me a break, elitist.

I hope the Xbox one is successful. It is innovative and will have the games at E3. People need to calm the fuck down, and just wait to judge something before release, or even before they see the software.

This is not true. 90% of THE Nextbox library will be 3rd party games. As 3rd party games will not be affected by media features. Moreover even first party games will be abundant. Have you heard of the fifteen exclusives in launch year. This is impressive and you know it.

don't call me an elitist. I don't know what that means so I'm going to take it as disrespect. Mind your manners

But resources and design decisions that could have been spent improving the system's gaming capabilities will have been spent making sure it can play TV the best it can, etc. I'd prefer a system geared exclusively or almost exclusively for playing games.

An elitist is someone who looks down on others and labels them inferior, which is what you did by classing me as not a "real gamer." It wasn't any more disrespectful than what you said to me.

@ curl

Sir, you make poor argument. Just because a console spends resources on non gaming features does NOT mean that the features spent on the gaming features will be insufficient to please you. You are being very premature about this entire situation. Also, you're a fan of the wii U so I know you're being biased. The Nextbox will likely have much more resources for gaming than the Wii U since its so technologically superior. So how is it that the Nextbox will not have enough gaming resources to please you but the Wii U does? Mommy....your bias is showing. The others may think youre a reasonable user but I see right through you, buddy.

Well there is a limited variety of games, there was a massive focus on entertainment when it's supposed to be a gaming console, the pre-owned games fee and the internet connection issues are just some of the reasons to be negative about it. Sure we can wait to E3 but no matter what Microsoft shows, these issues will remain persistent and scar the Xbox One's image in the long term

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

They're are launching a TV centric device in a world where TV audiences are falling.

I'm not ruling Xbox One out prematurely, I'm saying that so far it looks horrible to me.

Such strong multimedia focus suggests time and resources that could have been spent on gamers will be spent elsewhere.

I am not biased in the slightest. I criticised the hell out of the Wii U at its crappy conferences, just like I'm criticising the Xbox One now.

I don't much care which console is technologically superior, I care which one caters best to me as a gamer, and from what we've seen so far, Xbox One doesn't.
