Wasn't PS3 being boasted for similar things?

In the end, because multiplats are the bulk of libraries, they will be made to tailer to Xbox and PS4, and they will be made as equal as possible.

Only exclusives can set them apart, but I suspect even then the graphics gap will be minimal.

no PS3 wasn't boasted as being 50 percent more powerful

and no, just because you say so doesn't mean it WILL happen..

XBOX 1 multiplats were not equal to ps2

The graphics gap is not like xbox and PS2. More like 360 and PS4.

lol how a plausible scenerio of equal multiplats just doesn't compute.

mmm. What? I guess you meant PS3.

This is sort of hilarious to read. Everyone has spent months screaming that no developer would ever scale their graphics or engage in any optimization to help the WiiU. Now all I read is that everyone is more than willing to deal with the fact that Xbox isn't as powerful as PS4 and it shouldn't harm them a bit.

Let's also not forget that the Xbox is declaring that it will have various multitasking going on all the time and that will require background processes and memory as well. It certainly cannot have even the resources for games that the specs present if it needs to have the ability to run multiple apps and respond to visual and audio inputs associated with actions outside of the game.

Example, while playing the next of Call of Duty game, it needs to be able to respond to and deal with answering a Skype video call at a moments notice. That requires power to be taken away from any foreground process all the time.

Digital Foundry predicted this ages ago and tend to be right. I still maintain cross platform games will look basically the same. PS4 exclusives might be better, but I would put that down to Naughty Dog as much as anything

Might? That's an absolute guarantee. PS3 was arguably more powerful than 360 when used right, but the difference here is way bigger.

I am erring on the side of caution

Somini, we know that already from credible sites.

The site it was getting the information from does good credible analyses of these sorts of things

Yeah but TV, Sports, Call of Duty...

And a cute doogie.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Keep telling yourself that. Ps3 had a significantly worse GPU. Look at the graphical differences in exclusive games. Here there is a 50% power  difference. 50% I tell you.

300,000 servers to help on that. Xbox One is not a static console.

Sorry but this is "teh cell" talk all over again.

On paper /= real application.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

That's like saying that games perform the same on a 180$ graphics card as they do on a 300$ one.

There are lots of things added GPU power can be used for; higher resolution, framerate, AA, detail, shadowing, textures, effects... it's all up to the developer. Even if the game was made with XBox in mind and they look the same on a scaled down still image, they'll have a higher native resolution, better AA, less tearing and will perform smoother, things that granted not all, but a lot of gamers appreciate.
