Forums - Microsoft - Multiple accounts can use a single Xbox Live subscription on the One

I said this ages ago and no one cared.

The only way the next Xbox can work is if the console itself has a subscription to it, not the individuals.  By doing that, you 1) eliminate the need for the family plan and 2) make it easier to have friends come over and play with you.

Certain things can be tied to the console rather than the account.  Things like Netflix and Skype.

Wait a minute if I buy a game lets say Halo 5 and register via my account and want my brother on the same Xbox to be able to play it without signing into my account would it be possible without paying the fee?

If NO I am done with the Xbox because seriously that would be the most stupid thing ever when you are releasing a game console which is used by multiple persons in one household

That's exactly what this article says you will be able to do.

Essentially Xbox live membership per console, so you, your brother, your sister can all create accounts and use this console with your individual accounts while paying only 1 subscription.

To add to this, your friends would also be able to come to the console and play with their own (existing) Xbox LIVE accounts.

The personal Xbox LIVE accounts are now just personal, it's the consoles that have the subscription.

So for another example, if you have 3 Xbox Ones in your house, and you want to have a gaming party, and you have twelve friends you invite over, you'll need 3 Xbox LIVE subscriptions for the console so that everyone will be able to play on any console.  Also, every console will automatically recognize them, pull down their profile from the cloud, giving them access to any game saves or DLC content they already own, with out sticking a single thing into the console.  Just authenticate via Kinect, and you're logged in.

Obviously... it's 1 account per box, with multiple users. If this thing is gonna be sitting in the living room its gonna need an account for each family member.

how is this news? u can have multiple user accounts on 360

The Xbox LIVE subscription is no longer tied to the individual user but the console.  So you subscribe the device not the user.  That's why.

Sure, i might 'be smoking' but are you not at all concerned about any of these points?
and if a game decides to use those cloud features (azure), always online required even for the single player if they do it.. just makes me cringe a bit.

Those are topics for another thread.  Take that discussion to those threads.

What are you people smoking, only positive info?

Some of you don't understand jack when it comes to technology benefits here. There is a ton of positives when it comes to the new Xbox One even when it comes to this digiatl distribution and DRM.

- You don't have to worry about games being scratched ever

- Games and game saves follow you around anywhere you go. No need to carry disks around.

- Games and gameplay can dynamically change on the fly since they are not tied to the disk

- Games have a potential of being cheaper and Microsoft is implementing a method for gamers to resell used games directly to each other

If you were to list every improvement Xbox One is bringing to the table you would have one massive thread. However the community here is just focusing one 2 things they will no longer be able to do. "borrow" games from friends and buy used games.

Its just sad...

LOL Benefits? not really the word i have for them. dont throw your games around and put them in the case when your done and dont leave them around to get messed up! take care of things and you will have no problem..   I will keep physical copies, so when a hurricane comes through and im bored as shit with no power and a generator for a week, i can still play without "checking" in with big daddy M$. If anything id rather mod a XB1 at this point and customize it the way I want, than make it a real benefit. But please enjoy your XB1 sir.

This actually looking much better value than ever. 300,000 dedicated servers and now you can share accounts.

All you guys have the 2 exact same complaints that are latching on to and are repeating them over and over...one of which has not been fully confirmed or denied by microsoft.

If Microsoft states that once you install a title and verify with their server, you are able to play offline all you want, half of the threads on VGchartz will be just empty false banter.

Does it tie to console and account, like current xbla games? Will i be able to buy a game on my sons console under my account, linking it with that console and still play it on my console while logged into live?

I doubt that you can use the same account at 2 places at the same time.
that would compleatly break the whole system

= everyone can use 1 account, they won't allow you to share an account 99,9% sure.
if they do, i'll prob. get the system and share an account with like 5 buddies. then we'd be able to buy ALL the games :P
