Forums - Microsoft - XBOX ONE requires a fee to play used games. And if the game is new the fee is $60!

When installed, isn't it possible to play a game without the disc? If so, then this fee would make sense, and would also be most profitable for both Microsoft and gamer(s) because the fee will definately be less than the actual price.

I'm afraid I don't follow.

Microsoft are making this far more complicated than it should be. Either you need to pay a fee or you don't.

Per Harrison, it looks like you do. I can understand why they're not exactly trumpeting that from the rooftops, though.

But what if you want to bring a game disc to a friend's house and play there? You'll have to pay a fee—and not just some sort of activation fee, but the actual price of that game—in order to use a game's code on a friend's account. Think of it like a new game, Harrison says.

"The bits that are on that disc, you can give it to your friend and they can install it on an Xbox One," he said. "They would then have to purchase the right to play that game through Xbox Live."

"They would be paying the same price we paid, or less?" we asked.

"Let’s assume it’s a new game, so the answer is yes, it will be the same price," Harrison said.

Holy crap

Holy crap indeed.

I guess they are pushing for digital only? If that is the case Gamestop better not sell the XOne at all.

Weird, that's the exact opposite of what Xbox Support said on Twitter.

I don't know what to believe.

I currently own and play 3 different Xbox360 consoles throughout my house.

From what I gather I will have to pay for a game 3 times if I want to play it in 3 different rooms of my house.

Microsoft.

Go fuck yourself.

Don't be absurd.

You'll just have to have three separate TVs cabled up to play a One, then move the console (+Kinect!) around when necessary. Frankly, you could use the exercise.
