i don't get the hate on terra nova. I loved it, was really hoping for a season 2 :(

Yes, Terra Nova,Smash, Super 8, Deep Impact, Amistad, Men in Black, SeaQuest, The Flinstones Movie, Tiny Toons Adventure, The Money Pit, are all things he is involved in at some level, mostly executive producer.

Just as Lucile Ball was connected to producing the original Star Trek.  It probably wouldn't have been made if it wasn't for her. But that's a good show, so it's different.

"why would they restart civilization in the Cretaceous period?" - Well, the plot evolved that they may or may not be on Earth.  Since it was canceled, I guess we will never know.

It was the biggest budgeted show at the time.  Great special effects, and some talented actors, but just didn't work on many levels like the 'New Bionic Woman.' So many of the sitations were about ego - not stories, character flaws, situations, moral decisions, etc.

There are plenty of super talented people working out there that can pull off good Science Fiction, but you need to understand some science to do it well.  Or at least have some great advisors.  Look at Doctor Who, Torchwood, or the Forward Unto Dawn series.  Even 'The Booth at the End' is a well crafted 'Twilight Zoneish' style story.  They are all very well made.  I think it's ashame they are being pushed asside.

I wonder how much this will all cost? Cause with Steven Spielberg directing, why not finally create that blockbuster movie that was suppose to happen long ago?

I think a lot of Halo fans realized the potential of a good series after FUD and MS is giving them what they want, I know that's how it went with me. I used to be all, "Gimme a movie, Gimme Blomkamp" but now Im totally down for a series and it's entirely because of FUD. Well that and maybe getting spoiled by some awesome series' like Breaking Bad, Walking Dead and the best one of all, Game of Thrones. The potential is there though because the Haloverse is great.

Then be like the James Cameron with Avatar and plan to make Avatar 2,3,4,5,6,7.... (sarcasm)

I see what you mean.  But I feel that a franchise as big as Halo should deserve a big movie on the big screen.  If Heavenly Swords and Ratchet & Clank are in the works of a movie for the big screen, then isn't Halo more deserving?

I just can't see a Halo tv series getting the glamorous special effects it deserves and that you'd see on the big screen (like the new star trek movie...which btw I loved!!!)

I'm loving the idea of a series, but I still want my Blomkamp. :D

@ bolded, that's just it, I don't want glamourous effects. The Covenant arrival and the stalking Elite in FUD was done so well and that wasn't all balls to the wall effects. Obviously there were effects but what made that so good for me was the atmosphere of terror and ferocity the Covenant represent. Don't get me wrong, I'd be there day one to watch a movie but I think that a series allows for so much more. Just look at Game of Thrones, in two weeks we'll have 30 episodes and I feel like I NEED to see so much more. The world is so big with so many characters and moving parts, it could go on forever. But here we are with 30 hrs. of big budget movie quality, that's the equivelent of 10 looong ass feature films but with so much more story to tell. I just think that a good series is better than a good movie these days.

First - did you see Foreward Onto Dawn?  It was really good.  I think it's even on Netflix now.

A little off Topic, did you see the first JJ. Star Trek movie?  Did you like it?  A good friend wants to see the new one with me, but If it's similar I think Iron Man 3 might be a better choice.
