Forums - Gaming - Video Game Makeovers

You ever had a video game in your line of sight that interested you but there were just certain things you didn't like? Or maybe you would just like to tweak certain things to make the game better for you and maybe others? Now is the time to tell us What games you would give a makeover...

Resistance Series

-I really wish it wasn't in 1st person. The view point is cumbersome and over used. Anyone who has ever made a game will till you that two genres only get so much play by developers because they are easiest to make; First Person games, and Side Scrolling. They are rudimentary at best as far as game execution goes. Contrary to what some believe, being in FP view does not make you feel more like the chacracter, it takes away from being able to identify with them as humans are mostly visual. The series should have been/should be in 3rd Person View.

-Series should concentrate on a slightly more horror like aspect. What made me and many others love the games so much was it's almost 60s style horror appeal. The game should have essentuated this with the Chimera. More of them running at you from around corners, popping out of air vents, etc. Basically it needs more Dead Space!

-Should have never Killed Hale, or maybe never made him as the main character in the first place. Should have gone for a younger more cadet looking soldier. Might have resonated more with the 16-25. Or maybe created character from jump.

Infamous

-Story based Side missions. Why Sucker Punch opted to make pretty much all side missions a "name a meaningless task, you go do it without quetion" type is beyond me. They should have gone for more side story element. What I like about GTA is that when you go on a said "X-Type" mission its not just do the mission, they give it a purpose. For example instead of a generic Go steal this car, GTA will instead give you your cousin's in need of a ride to get to work so you want to commandeer a ride for him. This would have melded nicely with Infamous' hero's plight concepts.

-Actually stat tracking menus. The Stunts list from Infamous 1 was the bane of my existance. How the hell they are just going to NOT give you a actual list of what stunts you are doing. Instead you were only shown one at a time in sequence and had very little to identify which ones you have done already and which you have not. Terrible design decision.

-Custome outfits. I get they probably wanted to sell new outfits as DLC, that is fine by me. Yet I would have liked to dress Cole up a bit to my liking, put my own spin on him to personalize. Could have been similar to how HOME's costumes work. Would have been much appreciated.

Pokemon

-Series would have gone 3D a long time ago.

-Concept of Pokemon Stadium on main consoles was sort of genius but never fully came to fruition. Collect your pokemon on your own, then meet at the stadium console game to battle them against others over the internet. This should definitely be revisited by Nintendo.

So give me your Postmortem Makeovers...

About the Pokemon thing, I would not be surprised if Pokemon Z was a WiiU game.

But then again X and Y looking to have online multiplayer already.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

I would love to see Wild Arms come back, but not like 4 or 5. I'd like to see the older battle systems in place instead of the hex system, although the encounter way of doing things is great.

Online multiplayer for Pokemon has been around for a while now hasn't it?

That would boost WiiU sales significantly if that happened. It won't but wow... if it did....

Xenoblade.
Looks like a very interesting game, yet 480p is so damn ugly on 1080p LCD screens.
Come on Nintendo bring out a Wii U version.

Uh, actually, that just sounds like your opinion, and one I disagree with completely.  Half-life would lead us to believe that it's pretty damn good as a storytelling format, as would BioShock or Fallout 3/NV.

As for "anyone who has ever made a game," I think Ken Levine kind of disproves that:

"The first-person is very powerful. It is at the end of the day where interactive experiences, where the ultimate goals, lie, because that's what our experience is."

"And it allows us, in the kind of detail we put in the world, to get close to it in a way you can't otherwise and most importantly it's not a 'him', it's a 'you'. Booker is not forming a relationship with Elizabeth, some weird hybrid of you and Booker is forming a relationship. That's incredibly powerful. If Infinite was third-person Elizabeth would not be the same."

Sorry, couldn't disagree with you more.

On topic, I want a Killzone with a more open world.  It's such a great universe that I want to play around in it some.  Like if KZ3 had side-missions through the wreckage of the city, something like that.  Linear is fine in a lot of ways, it's a fun ride, but you don't need to be pushed constantly.  It would have been cool to have made a base camp for awhile, where you could go after several bonus objectives.  I'm hoping KZM does something to scratch that itch.

Uhg, I would quit gaming. Shooting I have little issue with as a game mechanic. But First Person View? Irritates me to no end playing a game like that. I like seeing my character thank you. I play all games in 3rd if I can, even Skyrim.

Games like Assassin's Creed, GTA, Gran Turismo, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Elderscrolls(not exclusively FP), Gears of War, God of War, Uncharted, etc do just fine in a FPS dominated market. Not everything has to fall into that trap. If anything, with every dev trying to capitalize on the market COD and Halo started, this would be the perfect opportunity to try to expound on the other neglected Genres and types of games.

Yea its personal opinion, wasn't trying to portray it as anything but. I just despise FP view, I find it silly. First off its not even within perportion because your hands to not rest a foot infront of you at all times. Also the height is usually totally off. I have only ever appreciated  the POV in one game, Mirror's Edge. It was totally believable in that, unfortunately the game itself was  a tad broken.
