Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo gamers: Better Question, do you even care about third party games on Nintendo systems?

I do, I care about 3rd party games on Nintendo consoles. I love things like the Batman games and Darksiders, and really wanna play things like Red Dead Redemption, Tomb Raider and Monster Hunter.

Nintendo needs 3rd party support because I wanna play them!

well aside from MonHunTri on Wii i stuck to 1st party, a few 3rd party games but thats always after they were like 60% off at least. its nice to have some 3rd party games but i almost always play 1st party (not including handhelds of course)

if the game is around the same quality as on other consoles then i would always buy it on a Nintendo console but since that almost never happens i end up buying it on xbox instead.

Out of the 4 games i own for WiiU three are 3rd party

absolutely yes. I've mention before, i believe a console is a failure if it can't provide me 20 worth while games. Not just good games, but worth while to me. Ex; was wii sports 2 a good game? yes. did i have any interest in it? no. Nintendo has never made 20 worth while games in a generation (for me). not even for super nintendo. So yes, 3rd parties are important. the wii just squeaked by on that accomplishment, which is the main reason (well, and money) i haven't bought a wii-u. That'll probably change eventually. I feel like there are going to be a good amount of quality games coming out for wii-u. If i'm wrong though i'll probably get a ps4, then pass on the wii-u until next generation and pick it up for 100$ or less to catch up on discounted zelda, metroid, pikmin, and smash bros.

Not so much for me as I have other systems for my third party needs. The whole "only buys nintendo systems for nintendo games!" is actually somewhat true in my case, though ofcourse I do get a few third party games for the Big N's systems every now and then.

Well, I couldn't care less about third party games on the Wii U. My PS3 will give me current gen multiplats and PS4 will give me next gen material. I just want the Wii U for the great first party content they provide - same with the 3DS. I do hope Nintendo ratchets up the development over there and provide more games for the Wii U as a substitute of sorts.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

I've traditionally been about 50/50 on Nintendo consoles, so yes, give me something worth buying and you can have my dollars. Some of the third party efforts on the Wii were just terrible and EA's efforts on the Wii U, with the exception of NFS, have been pathetic.

I'm currently 4/6 third party retail on the WiiU but that has more to do with Nintendo's lackluster first party presence thus far than the quality of third party games.

All things considered I've been conditioned to accept little/no third party support or what comes being sub standard or shovelware in most cases. At this point I've accepted I have to buy either a Playstation or XBox to get access to the majority of good games made by worldwide by developers not named Nintendo.

What I *do* miss about Nintendo though is the lack of 2nd party partners like Rare, Silicon Knights, Left Field, Factor 5, etc. that were allowed to make games like GoldenEye and Eternal Darkness and Rogue Squadron, not just farmed out Nintendo character IP that Nintendo is too busy to work on themselves.

I think a lot of the complaints about a lack of content on the Wii U/3DS ... like how perfect would a Banjo-Kazooie or Killer Instinct or even a new Rogue Squadron game be right now on the Wii U?

Letting Retro make 1 game every 3 years doesn't fill the gap (sorry).

I want more than just games from Nintendo's Japanese studios. Platinum Games is a step in the right direction, but I said a year ago on this board, they needed like 3-5 more partnerships like this, and now you can understand why, as we're sitting here dying of things to play waiting for months on end for Pikmin 3 to show up.
