Forums - Sales - Wii U £149...gone?

Looking at the UK retailer ASDA who stocked the Wii U for a phenomanl £149, and £199 for the basic and premium packages, there seems to be an issue.

1)Either they are out of stock and awaiting more

or, from the looks of things,

2) They've stopped stocking it

Prices are back up to the £199 and £249, with out of stock notices and there is no "Wii U" console category...

Anyone know what is going on? If that price cut hasn't worked, things are looking really grim.

Asda' game segment was probably shit anyway but likely getting rid of Wii U's as they just aren't selling.

Edt: might stock again for holidays.

PSP Lifetime more than PSV+3DS Lifetime.

When I went to my local Asda a few weeks ago they didn't stock the Wii U or its games. Was pissed as they were my last stop for the day, neither Tescos or Sainsburys stocked any either.

this was a couple of weeks ago, have they stopped now, someone said just getting rid of a certain type of stock or something

Stocking a brand new console for £149 hardly counts as "shit". In fact I think that so far is the lowest legitimate price in the world for the Wii U.

Looks like it was a stock clearance scheme.

So it was a stock clearance scheme as we had imagined.

Disappointing but no major surprise here sadly. Perhaps more stock will roll in after the summer.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

That's not true.

It was just a promotion that a few retailers matched. If it was a stock clearing scheme other retailers wouldn't have bothered matching. There may be no stock now (haven't checked) but that doesn't indicate stock clearing - of course it could be - but it's just anecdotal.

OP...

You can still get as of this posting...

1. Wii-U 8GB with Tekken Tag 2 £179.99 at Shopto

2. Wii-U Zombie-U Premium pack for £249.99 at GAME use discount code "BITEME" (includes pro controller too)

That's the cheapest/best value you can find at the moment in the UK since Amazon/Base put their prices back up.

If you're willing to chance it, you can use those prices for a Flubit offer request and save another 5-8%

But there's also the consideration that Asda have removed the Wii U as a category under "console" which seems alarming...

Ta for the links - I wonder why they didn't keep prices down as that would seem to make more sense unless price isn't a factor affecting sales?
