There is a negative momentum in NA currently, so I guess...not

Are you saying that more people in NA are returning their 3DS to cancel the original sale than new people buying it? How else could you achieve negative momentum?

Rol discovered a good Wiki term for Pezus last night. I forget what it is though. He does it perfectly. Do not pay him any attention. The 3DS is beast and not even Pezus can deny it or brain wash us to think it is not.

The 3DS isn't a "beast" in North America, it can't even outsell a 7 1/2 year old XBox 360.

Just wait for May NDP. If I am wrong, I will ...be wrong.

Wait for what? Something magical is happening in May?

Luigi + Fire Emblem + Monster Hunter + LEGO + Pokemon Mystery Dungeon have already been out. No bump in hardware sales year over year whatsoever. Cold. Hard. Numbers.

The handheld market is in massive decline in the West. That's all there is to it.

since when have those been monster games debut wise? Monster huner was never big in america, Mystery dungerons last game sold what 500k in america, Lego?? lol, fire emblem never big seller but the 3ds is making it to be the best selling game in the series history, and luigis mansion sold decent forthe  gc and lugis mansions 2 is out pacing it greatly in sales. Why are you trying to act like these games are on the level of lets say animal crossing, Zelda, pokemon x and y, and super smash brother? They clearly arent nor were they anything special to begin with lol

Bit disappointed with Revelaitons tbh, thought they were supposed to be changing the layout of the ship..? Just having items in different places in that extra difficulty level isn't enough to convince me to double dip, will wait until the price comes down a fair bit I think.

NPD numbers are from last month. I am saying it will be much bigger this month. Why argue about it? We will see how wrong I am. I have been wrong before. Like when I said the wii would be at 100 million by January 1st of this year.

What exactly are you even predicting? That 3DS sales will monstrously explode in May for no reason?

I think we all know all hardware (Vita included) will see a uniform rise from April to May, but that's really no big deal.

That doesn't quantify as "momenteum".

The 3DS hasn't put up impressive numbers from Jan-April despite a strong lineup of releases this year in North America. Even it's holiday numbers last year were kinda soft (down year over year yet again).

The only game 3DS had last holiday was Paper Mario, and that's no system seller - so is there any wonder it didn't do terrific last holiday? And in January-February last year 3DS was still riding on the SMB3DL and Mario Kart 7 wave, so there's no wonder it haven't done as well this year either. But YOY I think April/May has been better this year. And with Donkey Kong, Zelda and muthafrekkin Pokémon coming this year sales will absolutely explode!

Finally ! A Nintendo gamer blood brother here to back me up. In yo face Soundwave!

Paper Mario was not a big game. It never has been a big series.

Yeah! Let's serve him some Nintendo logic! We Nintendoians gotta stick together ;)

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

3DS sales aren't exploding and I stand by it. The actual sales data backs me up and speaks for itself.

Just for reference too, Pokemon caused no hardware spike for the DS in North America either (go look it up). Pokemon fans are Nintendo fans, they don't just sit there waiting years and years to buy a handheld until Pokemon comes out.

3DS is doing OK in the new reality of consumer electronics -- that is the one in which the smartphone is the center of many people's entertainment lifestyle and the tablet is the most wanted/fought over device for kids in the mini-van.

The 3DS will never be the DS or even match the GBA's early years before it was prematurely cut off. The world simply changed, and many companies (not just Nintendo) are struggling to figure out where they now fit. The image of Vatican square from 2005 to 2013 illustrates the difference stunningly:

That was April, this is now. Get with the times number/google/Sony king.

@ Deltio

How do I watch it again? Your name is hard to remember. Del is your nickname from now on.

No problem.

I didn't realise this Sonic partnership covered 3 games! So there's another we don't know about...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

You are so out of touch dude. I bet you were front seat of the '3DS is Doomed' train.

Sales numbers back me up. Sub-130k for 3DS in April outsold by a 7 1/2 year old console, several consecutive months of literally zero year over year growth or even negative growth for the 3DS in North America. Spin it however you want though.

Even Iwata has said clearly in Nintendo's financial briefings that they are unhappy with the state of 3DS hardware sales in the Western markets and view that as the no.1 priority for Nintendo (even above rescuing the Wii U apparently). Anyone who objectively looks at the actual numbers knows the truth.

360 ps3 doomed, getting their butt kicked by the ps2 in april 2007, a 7 and a half year old console!! ;)

The 3DS is cheaper than the 360 whereas the PS2 was $99.99 against the $400 360 and $600 PS3, there's really not many excuses for its level of performance in the West. It has lots of games being released now too.
