Forums - Website Topics - How is this issue justified on VGC? Rule is to be civil

"Civil manner" does not mean "use only use language you'd use around your mom." Besides, if we only allowed classy posts, we'd lose half the folks in this thread (myself included).

I mentioned it in the mod chat after you PM'd me.
we haven't reached an agreement at the time I left, though it seemed like more of us thought that you were being hypercritical.
Cursing itself is fine here as long as it doesn't become rampant.

A while back it was even allowed to tell people to STFU or GTFO (under the Machina regime) but we seem to look more harshly into that nowadays.
You said that you reported these kinds of posts. I can say for myself that I don't remove these reports where I'm not certain and I don't think other mods would do that without asking about it in the mod chat.
Therefore you can be sure that enough people saw it and that it was decided to be harmless.

That's all I wanted was an answer.  I know that people have different views on these type of things but I don't see this as being civil.  I don't report every comment that curses but If i see something posted out of anger I do.  Personally I don't think you can justify this behavior as being civil but that is my opinion.  You can lock this thread now if you want.

Maybe what we need is more direct feedback from mods when we report something? So we understand the result of our report?

This place seems to be an opinionated forum, too bad you can't say anything with whiney sensitive a-holes reporting you for having a different opinion...

None of those comments were cursing AT YOU.
People are allowed to be angry and they are allowed to say curse words.

If I got banned for saying shit like that I'd be fucking pissed.

I don't even know what to say.

But angry people are funny. Just stay calm, tease them a bit and see just how angry they can get. Nothing's funnier than having an Internetian explode in a fiery blast of senseless cursing and grammatical disasters.

Why would you even care if your opponents are mad at you during discussion?

If you are being reasonable while they are not, it is solely their loss. And if their anger is justified, you should take a look at your own reasoning.

In none of those cases does it make sense to be offended by their anger.

First time I've brought this up publicly i believe?

So you think this is a civil way of making these comments?  In both situations they showed aggravation or anger.  Say this on any other site and you are banned.  Say this to your boss or at work and you are fired.  Say this to a teacher etc you are in trouble.

Putting emphasis on something can be done without anger.

As I said I don't mind cursing, but there is a fine line on how you say these things and these are not joking around.

Are you my boss?  Are you my teacher?  And to say that any other site bans for cussing is a straight-up lie.  There are lots of forums where you can pretty much say anything you want.

Honestly, I have very little problem with the examples you've given.  Stop trying to change the way this forum works to fit with your own perception of how it should be.  Anyone has the right to be angry with you.  They just don't have the right to insult you directly.  The difference is pretty clear.

Respectable sites don't allow this kind of stuff.  All it does is make these sites look bad.
