Capcom confirmed it's only in downloadable version on eshop and not retail.

Fuck them.

It is time for Nintendo to release the miiverse-update and finally tie our games to the account then...

While I am disappointed it's download only (as I look at the other games nicely sitting on my shelf). It's still a day one for me - better than not getting it at all. The ace attorney franchise is better suited to digital anyway seeing as it has low replay value (so when I put the game back on my shelf it sits there indefinitely)

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

*Sees AA 5 to release in NA Fall 2013*

Hype level = Over 9000!

*Digital only*

Hype level = 0

Why digital only? Maybe I should wait Nintendo to implement accounts in 3DS before buy it -.-

Is digital only really THAT big a deal breaker for people? I know Nintendo's system isn't ideal, but it's not horrible, and it'll get better. I don't think it's worth missing out on a highly anticipated game over.

Personally I haven't bought a retail game digitally yet, mostly due to all the digital-only games I've bought taking up most of my memory. When I upgrade to a bigger card I'll definitely grab AA5 digitally, and probably DKCR as well.

O don't either get the big deal with it. This game probably would not have come otherwise, as Capcom has said that the series has suffered poor sales in the West. People should be happy that Capcom are even doing this, it could have been another Investigations 2.

I for one am incredibily pumped for this game and will definately buy it day 1.

Besides that I'm glad that we will be able to dwelve into Apollo's adventures yet again.

FUCK YES!

"Sorry guys, but a physical release is not in the cards.

Historically it’s been tough to attract long term retail support for Ace Attorney titles. With the release of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies we wanted as many people as possible to be able to enjoy the game for as long as possible. With that in mind we have opted for a digital only release via the Nintendo 3DS eShop.

I understand that this decision may upset fans who wanted to have a physical version of the title to add to their collection but we believe this direction is the best to take.

We will be confirming details on the price point in the not-so-distant future which I hope will also shed more light on the strategy at play here."

Actually the best thing about digital distribution from my perspective is the fact that I don't have to pre-order it and buy it day 1. I can wait a month or two and get it when I want to without worrying about being able to find a copy.

I wish Virtue's Last Reward was on the eShop because I didn't get it at launch and I haven't seen a copy in stores in a long time. :/

What?

In Europe it has been on the E-Shop since its release on November. The game even got a 30% temporary price cut on the E-shop a while ago. Quite weird and I agree with your first paragraph.

Hmm. I'm pretty sure it's not on there. I'll double check later. Wish me luck sifting through the eShop, haha.
