So i got to try Sleeping Dogs over the weekend, definately better than the last GTA. Maybe because I speak the language, it is extremely hilarious when they cuss in cantonese.

Also, as an undercover cop, i though the missions so far were very interesting, i haven't run into any "repeat" mission structures yet, most of them are new and fun to do so far. I felt like I need to do the Triad Missions to further my connections, and then the Cop missions let me arrest the bad guys. Definately taken a page for Infernal Affair (which the American version, aka Departed was based on).

The fist fighting is extremely fun, feels like batman but with more combos u can do, I literally felt like Donnie Yen in Ip Man the movie. The gun fight is also good, sort of a water down version of Uncharted. The driving mechanics (especially the bikes) were very fun and more responsive and better than any of the GTAs driving have done. Felt like the old Sega Arcade racing at times.

What are your thoughts? I suspect alot of you have a chance to play it since it is now free on PSN plus

I like it more than any GTA except for San Andreas. The action both gun, and melee is so much better. The story and characters were more amusing to me than GTA4's though not necessarily better, it has some amusing actors like edison chen, emma stone etc. The dress-up is fun and should be in every game. It also looks and runs much better than non-modded GTA4 on PC.


The game is much shorter, smaller, and has less content though. It also lacks the really good radio stations which add a lot to it when you're fuckin around, because it takes your mind off doing menial tasks. And no planes. GTA4 lacks that though too.

It's not perfect, but I'm not a big fan of GTA outside of san andreas (I think they're all good, but overrated games), and enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. Graphics are quite snazzy on PC too. I'm waiting for a sale so I can get all the dlc for cheap on steam.

I agree. I found SD shorter but much more interesting tahn GTA4. GTA4 was a real disappointment especially considering the reviews.

Most GTA games, the story sucks. I don't know why I am going between like 4 gangs and kill all these random target. This game, the story is more straight forward i thought. At least so far I have gotten into seems straight forward. The Melee in GTA just plain sucks and the gun play auto-target sucks too... Only thing good about GTA is the huge world, but i would rather have smaller world but more compact action

Is it the free game give by Sony in US this month? I need to try it.

I just downloaded Sleeping Dogs today, its free on PS Plus

yeah its MUCH better than GTA4, but for me that wasn't too hard a feat. Still ive pumped alot of hours into sleeping dogs and the DLC

I think GTA4 comes out on top for me, i liked the realistic feel and how everything seemed polished right down to the last detail. I really enjoyed the story too.

I will admit though SD wins in some areas, the fighting is great and feels natural, and i simply love diving over things in slow mo whilst shooting, epic fun :D

The Car handling in Sleepings Dogs is just awful..
