Forums - NSFW Discussion - NSFW: How NSFW is NSFW?

For peeves sake, what is all this complaining and debating about nothing?

We're a gaming community, as long as we keep things civil and within reasonable boundaries then it should be absolutely fine to post funny avatars, or avatars with attractive males or females as long as they're not nude, I mean we're not in a summer camp are we?

The problem occurs when people start to use disturbing, insulting or frankly obscene stuff in their avatar or signature.

users with inappropriate avatars should get banned

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I really never saw any problem with avatars and sigs here.

I don't think any of the avatars or pics are offensive in any way. The worst one is probably Galaki's just because discarded condoms are genrally considered discusting, but even that avatar isn't terrible.

As far as JayWood's concerns:

-You really seem to have an issue with boobs. Most of the world does not think clevage is a big deal, even if it's big. The girl with the big boobs is provacative, but it's not porn and not offensive.

-Your comparisson pic of a guy in a tiny swimsuit is not a good comparisson. If he was in jeans with a tight shirt or even topless, it would be similar to the girl with big boobs showing clevage. But your fellow is in swimware and his penis is accentuated (definitely not cold in that pool). The female equivalent would be a bikini or topless girl with a gap shot accentuating her vag. Penis doesn't = boobs. Vag = penis.

-It's interesting that you talk about standards and professionalism with a picture of Brad Pitt as your avatar. I find this funny because I've worked in very professional environments for some time. At a place I used to manage we had about 600 employees. It was a professional "image" facility, where business dress was expected. Employees could decorate their office or cubicle to some extent, and some naturally would have a provacative picture of a skimpy dressed man or woman. However, the one I received the most "complaints" - or rather condecending comments, snide remarks, etc, as no one really cared about a few sexy pictures - was a girl that had a framed picture of Brad Pitt. It seems that for most people a celebrity crush on a sex symbol is considered more juvenille than a little eye candy of other kinds. Take that for what you will.

-As far as standards and proffessionalism, this is a video game site. There is just about nothing in the world that is more un-professional, pure entertainment, waste time, just for fun and a little bit juvenille than video games. Personally, I would rather be caught looking at porn by family/friends/co-workers than a video games sales tracker site. Far less embarassing and easier to explain.

BTW, who's the cameltoe chick?

That's a man, bro.

None of them are bad for avatars. Except for maybe the cameltoe, but you cant see anything because of how avatars are cropped.

i keep telling them its me, but they never listen

Next time reply to me.

No i have no problem with boobs.  I am also very comftorable with my sexuality and see no need in trying to prove myself to people.

As I said before, i find it hilarious that pics of guys are suddenly provacative but not women's haha  Double standard haha

Brad Pitt isn't profesional?  First I've heard that lol  I also have worked in a business with 600+ people.  In fact I have worked closely with probably about 400 of them at 1 point or another.  At the end of the day though we always had a dress code.  In fact I had even got in trouble at one point.

I could easily start posting masculent men shirtless and people will be like OMG how dare he!  This shouldn't be allowed.  That is a double standard at it's best.

You're missing the point.  I have a work messaging service.  Lots of people sign off with a picture, quote or other item in their messages.  If I had a pic of Brad Pitt (or any other celebrity) I would look rediculous and unprofessional.  You are talking about standards and professionalism, but there are lots of ways to be that way in addition to boobs.  An environment is either for fun ( like this one ) or serious.  In a fun environment Brad is great, and so are pretty and/or sexy girls.  If this was a professional site or service, Brad would be just as questionable as the ladies with low shirts.

And in your attempt to be equalistic, you are missing a fundamental difference.  The pic of the girl with boobs is fully clothed and at a restaurant.  She is dressed sexy, not undressed.  The gentleman you have posted would not be allowed to enter a restaurant, as he is barely clothed at all.

The male equivalent of the girl with cleavage is more like this:

http://images2.fanpop.com/image/photos/13800000/Brad-Pitt-brad-pitt-13850986-1024-768.jpg

whereas the female equivalent of your pic is more like this:

http://thechive.com/2013/04/29/gaps-have-been-proven-to-be-good-for-the-eyes-37-photos/mind-the-gap-11-43/

which I think most would agree is not appropriate for an avatar.

I would say the poopy one would also be Not Safe for Life (NSFL). It's just disgusting. It’s not funny, not witty, just ‘hey I’m messy and disgusting, let me show you.”

I used Add Block Plus and tend to block several Avatars and signature pictures. It gets them out of the way so they no longer bug me and I can enjoy the post, not the lack of style, taste, or the need to annoy that the poster may have.

Lately, I block a looping one where a girl shows her butt to the camera - swaying back and forth, another where where somebody has a tattoo inside their mouth, and another where a guys head bobbing annoyingly.

Pretty much, it solves the annoyance nicely. Makes for a brighter day.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Tell me a funny joke!

You know who we have to ban? Smeags. That shit is unacceptable.

No you will just get fired and kicked out of school for this.  Yeah makes sense.  Everything is appropriate at certain times, not at all times.

Yeah you are right.  Definitely we should have this stuff on the site because hey we can wear them in public *rolls eyes*

I have one question for you: WHY THE F*CK WOULD YOU GO TO A RECREATIONAL PUBLIC SITE AT SCHOOL OR WORK?! Seriously, are you aware of how they track you anyway?

People like you annoy me: you think this site should have a preppy atmosphere? No inappropriateness of any kind?
