Wow. To make things clear, first weeks for both games according to VGC:

Dragon Quest VII: 836k

Animal Crossing: 641k

It's got a lock on 700k first week it seems. HUUUGE for an IP that's just being released on consoles. I wonder if its mobile background will give it an edge in digital sales as well.

Biggest first weeks in Japan:

Pokemon X/Y: 1.94m
Monster Hunter 4: 1.78m
Dragon Quest VII: 836k
Animal Crossing: 641k
Monster Hunter 3G: 525k
Dragon Quest Monsters: 515k

I wouldn't count it out from being 3rd on that list, it's definitely gonna be top 5 at least.
