The first game didn't do great either in Japan. The DS version was massively over shipped in Japan and when they reimagined the game for PS3 it managed to sell less in Japan ...

It's thanks to the west customers that Ni No Kuni is even getting a sequel ...

but i don't understand why, from what i have seen until now, it seems a jrpg that normally fits the taste of japan...
