I'll admit that I'm making a bigger issue out of this than it needs to be to prove my point, but that doesn't mean it's rational to worry about being "spoiled" of the COMG chart in the COMG thread.

Is MHW a mainline series? If so, why are we comparing it to MHXX?

Because since Monster Hunter XX was an expansion to an already released spin-off which already sold 2.81 million, it only sold 1.6 million in Japan allowing for the closest comparsion of a recent Monster Hunter game for Monster Hunter World. But yeah it's certainly no equal ground or Monster Hunter Worlds portable counterpart; that would be Monster Hunter 4 which sold 3.44 million in Japan (with it's expansion version selling an extra 2.63 million but we'll see if Capcom release a second expansion version for World).

There's no reason to limit the discussion of COMG pre-order numbers whenever Boutros posts his charts. He's not the villain here and neither should we make him out to be one if he wants to publicly post data in his own format at his own time and volition ...

Yes, there's a rule against posting spoilers but that has never been enforced during my entire history of being on here ...

We should also consider being reasonable about whenever we have to wait for compiled data from the original source since sometimes Boutros is running hours late or misses out on entire days too ...

I’m fine with people posting numbers. I usually skip most of the banter and look for Boutros’s charts anyways.

I can think of three reasons:

a) It'll get slaughtered by any of the other mainline MH anyway

b) Its point ratio will be drastically different than other mainline MH games, so a comparison to them wouldn't really tell us much anyway.

c) It's the most recent MH game (except from the Switch port I guess, but in that case, see a) again)

I'm siding with Kerotan, although since this is Boutros' thread and since he does the work with the charts it is also ultimately his decision. But anyways the charts are my preferred way of finding out the information, and because it's the reason I come to this thread and not just look up myself on the COMG website. I also think if you are going to look the points up early, I don't necessarily know why you can't keep them to yourself instead of posting them for other to see. If others want to know early they can go look for them themselves.

Nothing personal, and if Boutros doesn't mind it then I certainly won't get in the way of people posting or discussing the points before the charts. Although I think spoiler tags are a common middle ground we can all appreciate and enjoy.
